5.0 out of 5 stars Emily Flake is a genius!, August 27, 2005

I became hooked on Emily Flake's comics from the first time I noticed them in Baltimore's City Paper. They are laugh-out-loud funny, and a little bit twisted. Kudos to Benn and Rachel at Atomic Books for publishing this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Everybody "Gets It", April 28, 2006
I'm not sure how I found out about this book, and I think I only ordered it because I liked the name - but what a reward!!! Does your cat keep you awake at night? Ever been hungover for work? Ever wondered if anybody would know it was you if you randomely killed a drug dealer? There are some people that would look at this and never laugh - my ex husband being one. However, if you are a compassionate, intelligent person that has a bit of twisted sick humor in them, you too will "get it". I laughed until I had tears in my eyes.

5.0 out of 5 stars lulu eightball is the best thing you'll read this year, January 12, 2007
what can i say, like reviewers above, i got hooked on lulu eightball by reading it in the baltimore city paper. i personally enjoy that the strip continues to have a subtle baltimore vibe despite the artist now residing in new yawk city.

i think what excells about lulu eightball above and beyond other alternative strips that tend to run in alternative media is that mixed in with the caustic wit is a large dose of innocence and vulnerability. lulu is the everywoman for the new millenium.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flakey, but in a good wayW, November 16, 2008
I discovered Lulu Eightball one day after wading through the why-cant-the-world-be-better rants and endless ads of the local alternative paper. Lulu is a true alternative to the earnest world where we always need to be trying harder, hoping more, dreaming higher, or some other Olympic quest of the soul. Like I care. Lulu gives up early and often. I like that.

5.0 out of 5 stars I heart Emily Flake, November 30, 2006

The author is clever & insightful, putting on paper what lots of us think about but don't verbalize. The strip has always made me smile; it's so cool to have just gotten the book. The illustrations are kind of mimimalist and just perfectly capture what she is talking about.
