5.0 out of 5 stars Gold standard for conservative spinal care, April 8, 2004
By
Rob (Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Lumbar Spine: Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy, 2 Vol Set (801-2) (Paperback)
This is an excellent reference textbook and guide to mechanical treatment for mechanical spinal dysfunctions for health care professionals. The mechanical diagnosis into the proper syndromes and application of mechanical treatments needs to be provided by a highly trained practitioner (preferrably a Certified MDT)that has attended the McKenzie courses. The proper applicatin of the manual techniques cannot be learned by simply reading the text.

"Treat Your Own Back" and "Treat Your Own Neck" books are excellent for the layperson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Treatment Approach and Solid Theory, December 17, 2008
This review is from: The Lumbar Spine: Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy, 2 Vol Set (801-2) (Paperback)
I strongly agree with this theory of treatment for the spine. It works for 80% of my back case load and the the other 20% need other manual therapy typically Maitland approach or will not respond to mechanical treatment. Not for someone to treat themselves as needs thorough assessment to work properly, but a must read/courses for any outpatient therapist or other healthcare practitioner that treats the spine. I do have to admit that its success is lower for me in the cervical and thoracic spine where I personally believe the maitland approach has a higher overall success rate. But never the less should be in your bag of tricks.
