This is basically a piece of semi-opaque vinyl plastic sheeting held over the flash head with adhesive and velcro.
It does soften flash glare, especially for closeups.
Whether it is worth the price will depend on whether one is motivated to try and make the device from household materials...

3.0 out of 5 stars This will diffuse a harsh flash but make one for 5 cents
The diffuse effect is adequate; but I made one but cutting out a small opaque food container with a mat knife contouring it to my flash. Cost about five cents.
