Product Description

With a dark, mysterious presence on the wrist, the Luminox Men's 8802 Carbon-Reinforced PC Analog Plastic Bezel Watch is a must-have for your watch collection because of its mix of sporty style and sophisticated function. This watch begins with a 45mm black carbon-reinforce PC case with a black plastic unidirectional bezel. A prominent protected crown graces the right side of the case. These elements cradle a grey dial with black Arabic hour markers backed up by luminous markers and luminous hands powered by precise quartz movement. A black rubber bracelet straps this watch to the wrist, while a reliable buckle clasp ensures that it stays there.

I recently purchased through Amazon the Luminox 8802 Navy Seal 20th Anniversary 8802 Black/Graphite Dial watch. The design of this model is understated compared to some other Luminox models. I am a fan of Luminox, but frankly some models are too garish IMHO. I was looking for a good quality watch that does what I need without confusing me with extras I neither want or use.
This watch doesn't have the "WOW! Look at me!" that many people prefer. The watch excells in low light and dark conditions. Unlike many other watches, the Luminox doesn't need an external source for its luminosity. It is however the watch of choice when your buddy can't see the hands on their own watch and is constantly asking you for the time.
The strap is rubber and is comfortable. I don't know if a stainless steel bracelet is available.
If I could change a couple of features it would be making the calendar a little bigger (to help my aging eyes), and have a screwdown crown. If your are looking for a watch with all the bells and whistles with multple funtions this isn't it. Overall however, for a good looking low key everyday watch, Luminox has a winner.

I got my 8802 as a gift for my birthday. It really is a great watch.
I had read a lot of reviews on Luminox watches that stated the gas capsules had come loose inside the face or fallen off. Even some that have said they got water inside the watch.

I haven't had any of those issues. A week after I got the watch I used it in some rough salt water conditions. The watch got its share of salt and sand abuse.
Immediately after the bezel dial became hard to turn but after submerging it in fresh water and rotating the dial a few times, the sand and salt came free.

The watch looks great. Its very unassuming and not as gaudy as some of the other luminox watches that have over accented tick marks and numbers.

The band is longer then I anticipated and requires the use of the second keeper. I don't have many watches with bands this long but I understand the long band allows it to be worn over clothing etc.

Its very solid and a lot lighter then it looks. I imagine that is because of the polycarbonate/carbon fiber material.

The illumination is noticeable in indoors and dusk like conditions, not just in total darkness.

The only minor knock on the watch is that the face and numbers are so muted that if you are looking at it from an angle or if there is glare you lose the ability to see the numbers. The illuminated indicators are still very visible, so telling time isn't an issue at all, its simply a cosmetic issue.

This watch is everything you expect from Luminox. I was surprised at how light it is for the size of it. That would be the carbon fibre casing I guess. It is a large dial that is easy to read and the dial glows well in the dark. I like the grey face. Not black but not flashy.

I think I prefer the original strap to the new Evo strap. I find this one gets a bit sweaty when warm. The watch is fairly thick so if you are looking for a slim, low profile watch, you need to buy something else.

All in all a good purchase. A very manly device for weekend wear that should stand up to whatever you get into.

I bought the 8802 for about $200 and so far I am very happy with it. The glowing tritium isn't as bright as I thought it would be, but I think that's a good thing because I didn't want a watch that brought to much attention. It is a very comfortable watch! The band is rubbery and is pretty long so it can fit over diving suits, jackets, ect. and seems to be of high quality. The case and bezel are both polycarbonate so its very tough and is extremely light-weight as well.

-The watch isn't very flashy and you don't have to worry about scratching it.

-Keeps time very well, I've lost a second or two in three months of ownership.

-The black on gray writing isn't exactly functional under certain conditions (even during day), but luckily we have white tritium vials to look at so its not that big of a deal.

PS, those are my Photos, I hope they help you out on your decision!

I recently purchased a Luminox watch, model 8802. The watch is just a normal time and date watch, besides the Tritium in the hands and hour marks that illuminate. The time is supposed to be visible at all times, and the Tritium makes it very easy to read in the dark. The glow of it is pretty cool and will get bright enough to make a small glare on the wall if you get it close enough. The watch also has a rotating bezel, that functions as a timer. The strap is rubber and is very comfortable. I have bumped the face of it a few times, and so far there are no scratches. Overall, I highly recommend this watch.

***I've had this watch over a year now, and it still glows just as bright as when I first bought it!

Love the watch... I have a Tag for day and the Luminox for night... One caution, don't pay for two day shipping as you most likely will not get it in two days from Amazon/MrWatch. I ordered it on Thursday night but, did not receive it until Tuesday even though I paid for two day shipping.... So, the watch is great but, don't waste your money on quick shipping...
