IF...I can find out how to get the PC Software and USB link! So far I have not, and information from the company is difficult to obtain.

I already have the Prevention wrist monitor and arm cuff monitor, and they are both great except for two drawbacks, both of which the Lumiscope 1134 corrects. It records irregular heartbeat in its memory banks, and it is supposed to connect to a PC via USB to copy its memory records automatically, including irregular heartbeats - a function that I would find very convenient and time-saving. In fact, the usb - PC link and software is the only reason for the Lumiscope purchase.

When I bought the Prevention monitors I wrongly assumed that if it detected an irregular heartbeat that it would record it in memory. Nope! But the Lumiscope does, and at a lesser price.

The Lumiscope also seems more accurate to me, as it deflates more slowly, giving about 4 - 5 heartbeats per 10-digit drop. This is opposed to the Prevention getting usually 2 or occasionally 3. So the lumiscope is more accurate by a few points.

The LS 1134 also functions as a clock and an alarm, which is handy, and stores more info - up to 99 recordings in EACH of 4 memory or user banks - that's a total of 396 - far more than others! The Preventions both have 2 banks with 30 each recordings - and do NOT store irregular heartbeats.

The one gripe I have with the lumiscope, or Amazon's listing of it, is that the description gives the impression that the USB PC connection and software come with it, but it does NOT. It must be ordered online from Lumiscope separately, and I can not even find it on Amazon, which I find strange. So far, I have not even found it on Lumiscope's website, which I find even stranger. I have written them by email, and will report back my findings.

Another plus is the large arm cuff, which goes over 18". Very convenient.

Overall, I am very impressed with the quality, build, versatility and functionality. I may update this review after I see how much the software and PC connections costs, IF I can get them.

I recently purchased this item because of the previous reviews and the fact it was suppose to be downloadable to a PC. In fact, after purchasing it I found it came with neither software nor cable. Lumiscope's website, copyright 2001, claims Fox International is the vendor of parts and accessories for Lumiscope products. Fox International does have a Lumiscope product webpage claiming "No products available at this time...". The page was copyrighted in 2005. After contacting the customer service departments from both companies, I was given excuses of software not being available now or in any immediate future and the same for the cables. From my personal experience, this is not "brain surgery" level programming. While the 1134 has potential, if you are looking for computer interface capability, go elsewhere. Personally, without this capability, you can probably get just about all else from a less expensive meter. It would have been far better if the manufacturer had been honest to begin with instead of engaging in bait and switch. None of the Lumiscope product line are currently PC capable or have any identifiable data cable.

Lumiscope 1134 Deluxe Fully Automatic Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor is an excellent product. I was looking for something that was accurate when reading blood pressure, so my doctor suggested that I bring in my Lumiscope to the office at my next appointment so she could compare the readings from the Lumiscope and her professional blood pressure monitor. The doctor stated that the readings were fairly equal. I was very impressed that I was getting accurate readings from a piece of medical equipment I purchased for a reasonable sum of money. The Lumiscope is easy to use and reliable. You can't beat that!

This piece of medieval torture equipment was rated fairly highly, and had some bells and whistles that intrigued me. I had been using a ReliOn Two-channel BP cuff, but it finally gave up the ghost, so I decided to try this monstrosity. This instrument goes at least 30 mm above the last detected heartbeat, with standard stops at 176, 206, and 236 mm. So, after a stressful day, if one's BP has risen to, say, 165 mm, the machine will inflate to 206 mm, or maybe even, just to be sure, to 236 mm. My particular cuff deflates at a rate of approximately 1 - 2 mm per second, so the extra pressure requires at least an extra 15 seconds of loss of circulation to the hand, with accompanying discomfort. On these occasions the total time of blood restriction is (236 mm- 75 mm/ 2mm/sec = 40 sec.(or more)) Since it is now recommended that one take 3 readings to average them out, this means a total of well over two minutes without blood flow, and with accompanying discomfort. On one occasion the thing went to 236, and returned a reading of 128/68. That's a lot of unnecessary loss of circulation.
I have since replaced this piece of @#@$%^ with another ReliOn, which also gives me dual channel, irregular heartbeat and averaging, without the discomfort, and with much better accuracy and consistency. Admittedly, it also goes 30 mm above the last detected pulse, but it deflates at the rate of around 6 mm per second, so there's no discomfort at all.

This review is from: Lumiscope 1134 Deluxe Fully Automatic Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor with Irregular Heartbeat Detection (Health and Beauty)
Very impressed with accuracy, ease of use. Excellent product, would have given 5 stars if USB cable connector and software were included. And by the way, does EVERYTHING have to come from China?

This review is from: Lumiscope 1134 Deluxe Fully Automatic Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor with Irregular Heartbeat Detection (Health and Beauty)
I bought this monitor for my mother, age 87. She had no trouble getting used to using it. We also took it to her doctor's office to have its accuracy verified. It checked out fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lumiscope 1134 Blood Pressure Monitor, April 8, 2007
This review is from: Lumiscope 1134 Deluxe Fully Automatic Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor with Irregular Heartbeat Detection (Health and Beauty)
This monitor is by far the best for the money. The large display and other helpful features (Irregular heartbeat monitor, Low/High BPM, memory) takes the hassle and frustration out of monitoring caused by an unreliable/troublesome monitor.
