Amazon.com Review

For patients with hypertension, home monitoring can help detect dangerous blood-pressure spikes before they cause problems. Tracking measurements over time also gives a better overall picture of health than a single reading at a hospital or clinic, where nervousness can often distort results. But the most sophisticated blood-pressure monitor in the world won't do a thing for hypertension if you need a medical degree to use it. The Lumiscope 1094 blood-pressure monitor helps you take charge of your own health by making the measurement process easier and removing room for human error. The fact that there's no microphone in the cuff eliminates the need for precise placement on your arm. For those spooked by automatic inflation there's a bulb and pump to let you pressurize the cuff yourself. The cuff then automatically deflates, or you can press the exhaust push button to release air manually. Error codes even let you know if you're measuring incorrectly. This monitor runs on one 9-volt alkaline battery, and it turns itself off after 3 minutes without use. Like most other digital blood-pressure monitors, it gives a slightly less accurate measurement than a doctor's manual model, and even slight movements can sometimes throw off a reading. On the other hand, there's no need to listen to heart sounds through a stethoscope or scramble to read two sets of numbers on a gauge. If you have hearing loss or need to be able to take your blood pressure by yourself, this monitor is a fine (and economical) choice. --Mary Park

This is a very stable and accurate machine. My friend who's a certified nurse has actually tested this for me by carrying it to his hospital for 2 months now and used ALONG WITH the high-cost high professional ones - for he also wants to purchase one. His job - to take BP and collect blood-samples for 18 doctors! He has said - failed NOT EVEN once - with a +/- of 2 pts. either way both at the low/high levels. THe pulse is very accurate he said.

This review is from: Lumiscope 1060 Semi-Automatic Inflation Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor
My doctor recommended monitoring my blood pressure, so I picked up one of these machines. It works quickly and easily, and my doctor loves it. I charted out my readings and was able to regulate my BP.

Thanks Lumiscope. I'll live 10 years longer because of you!!!
