Great deal, but note that sizing is by hips, not waist.,

Tried one of the heavier $45 trusses--horrible. Hot, and two layers of thick elastic and velcro on the hips were about 1/2 inch thick--ridiculous when jeans and a belt placed over them. Elastic straps running through the crotch area were so thick that they chafed. Pad tensioning was integral to the truss, so increasing pad tension also increased waist and hip tension. The expensive truss also had pads made out of some semi-rigid foam like styrofoam--not comfortable at all.
This truss is comfortable, and the pad pressure is completely separate from the truss body and easy to adjust after the truss is on. No chafing. The pads are flexible and comfortable, but are not removable. The price is certainly right. The only negative is a small opening in the crotch area. Presumably there for convenient access, it may cause pinching of delicate items in some cases, and may need to be pinned or sewn shut. I had to find another web site to get accurate sizing information. The sizing on this truss is based on hip size and not waist size. My sizing was accurate using the following table: Size versus hip circumferance: Small -- 30"-32" Medium -- 34"-36" Med-Large -- 38"-40" Large -- 42"-44" XLarge -- 46"-48" XXLarge -- 50"-52"

If you are new to this type of device, you must note that the size designations are not normal and Amazon should provide some guidance in selecting the size. FIRST of all, you must measure your HIP circumference and then cross-reference that to Lumiscope's "sizes". EVEN then, I think I'd need one size larger. No surprise - these are quite uncomfortable if improperly sized. I did not give this item the lowest rating because I think the design and construction are good - providing you can guess the correct size.

I found the actual size of this product much too small for medium.
My waste size is 33 and it is impossible to comfortably fit into this product. Since this item(s) cannot be returned I am out the money I paid for them. I Had to place another order for medium/large and it turned out to be much better but is still very tight.

Pay attention to the other reviews, they are correct. The instructions state that you don't need to wear additional undergarments, but I found that the fly in the front of the unit can lead to very uncomfortable situations. Wearing "tighty whities" (briefs) under the truss solves that problem. Or, as one reviewer suggested, sew the thing shut. I wore it while waiting for surgery and it was fairly comfortable and allowed me to work. Buy two as the instructions suggest, one to wear and one to wash. I took it in the shower with me and then hung it up to dry. By the next day the truss was ready to wear. Lots of spandex in the construction.

This is a great product! I have had an inguinal hernia for several years that has recently grown much larger. I spent the last few weeks trying to lay down as much as possible because it was just too uncomfortable to stand. Things were so bad that I finally decided to have surgery, but it was going to be a month before the doc could see me.
I have had this product for a week and I feel great. I can stand all day, walk, run, whatever. I literally haven't felt this good in years. I just wish I had bought this a long time ago. As far as the size...I usually where 36" waist pants and I purchased the large version. It fits perfectly. Tighter is better if you want to keep things in place. I recommend this 100%.

I am 59 yrs. old, 6' tall 180 lbs. with a 34" waist. I first got the medium large and when I put it on, I had to stretch the bands pretty hard to get them to connect in the back, but it immediately felt very good and supportive. I then bought a large and it is easier to close and still supports very well. I can work and play softball and basketball without discomfort. I like it. I read online a review that said these types of trusses can cause problems and make surgery more difficult later.I am not an expert so I cannot say for sure, but it may have been written by a doctor that does the surgeries. In the meantime I am using it and liking it. Pay attention to the comment that it is hip size and not waist size that matters.

best hernia support,

i found this to be the most comfortable hernia support. it is elastic soft material that can be worn everyday. i have ordered a couple of them. i found out the medium/large and the large are EXACTLY the same size. and also the size chart is not accurate. my hip size is 32 and the large seems to fit pretty good

Hernia Truss,

Lumiscope Support Truss, Medium Large I've been all over the net trying to find support for a hernia that has broken through the intestinal wall into the testicle, the Lumiscope truss offers great support in this area with a couple adjustments. Without the adjustments they do pinch in this area. I did have to sew them closed where easy access pannels were located in the crotch to prevent the pinch. All in all I give the truss five stars.

Comfort of the Truss,

I am a very active person who does physical labor most all day and I ride horses and do all their physical care.
I really like this truss, it supports my hernia and I now feel free to do the heavey work that was uncomfortable with out it. It does need a brief on under it. Regular mens briefs weren't so good. I purchased Jockey no fly trunk briefs (short leg trunks that come down the thigh a little), I find it works well, I don't notice discomfort till the end of the day. I give the product only 4 stars because: I do have a problem with the velcro closure on the back. The elastic creeps up and the closure pokes me. My seamstress wife is going to sew on a velcro tab to secure the connection below the waiste band. I believe that will work.

Very Good with the right size,

This review is from: Lumiscope Support Truss, Extra Large (Health and Beauty)
As stated in other reviews, correct size is really important and these tend to run small. I ordered one size larger than I normally would. The extra large was perfect for my husband. He loved this truss 100 times more than the one I spent $55 on because the velcro strap that goes around the hips can be adjusted and gave much better support. The 2 pads that go over the hernias are not removable so I had to cut one out since he only has a single hernia. It wasn't difficult - I just made a small slit in the pad covering and slipped it out. They are easily washable in the washer on cold cycle and I hang them to dry. He also likes that the material they are made of isn't too thick so it's comfortable. This is a very good, moderately priced item that can give you the support you need until your hernia is surgically corrected.
