Not good for my daughter,
This review is from: Luna and the Big Blur: A Story for Children Who Wear Glasses Revised Edition (Hardcover)
My 4-year-old daughter was actually excited about getting glasses...until we read this book. After picking out her new frames, we were about to leave the ophthalmalogist's office when she saw this book and asked me to read it to her. I figured it would be a cute book and couldn't hurt. Now I wish I could go back in time and tell her no. Yes, it's a cute book, but boy did it set us back. It created the idea in her head that she shouldn't like her glasses. Now she keeps saying she doesn't want to get glasses. And she was excited about them before reading this book! We'll see what happens once her glasses arrive, but I REALLY regret reading this book to her.

This book hadn't been published when my daughter got her glasses as a pre-schooler. Wish it had been. A great daddy-daughter story especially when her father tenderly explains that while her glasses do make her different, she's also different because of her charm, her wit, and her curiosity. A book that affirms self-discovery, self-acceptance and the value of a sense of humor.

I was hoping this book would be good for my 3yr old son who just got glasses. It's a cute story, but probably more for a school age child, not a preschooler.

Lovely book!,
This review is from: Luna and the Big Blur: A Story for Children Who Wear Glasses (Hardcover)
I just purchased this book for my 7-year old daughter, and I have to say it was a PERFECT choice. I am so glad that I was able to find something like this for my daughter who just got bi-focals. It's a nice way to open the lines of communication with your child. I have been feeling a little down myself since we found out she needed glasses and this book helped me too! (I got a little emotional). Highly recommend for a school age little girl.

excellent book for our eye clinic,
This review is from: Luna and the Big Blur: A Story for Children Who Wear Glasses (Perfect Paperback)
We like to have books in our Family Eye Care Clinic for kids to read while they're waiting for the Doctor, it just seems fitting to have books about glasses/seeing the eye doctor. I found this book to be an exceptional book to have in the waiting area. We also have books like Arthur's Eyes, Glasses for D.W. and Good Luck Glasses...all three of these are also excellent.

I bought this book because my little boy was feeling insecure about his new glasses. The book is ok to teach children what glasses are for and about the doctor visit.

I am a retired elementary school counselor. I used bibliotherapy, the use of children's books to help kids talk, as one of my main therapy techniques. My grand nephew had to start wearing glasses recently. He was having a hard time accepting it. I shipped a copy of Luna and the Big Blur direct to my niece. I have used this book to help many kids over the years with the stigma they feel about wearing glasses. It's funny, has great illustrations, and it also explains why they need to wear glasses to correct their vision problems. You will enjoy reading this book with your little ones, and they will take it as their own after that. Enjoy! C. Miner, M.A., LPC

This sensitive, whimsical tale of coping with ones uniqueness is one of my favorite stories for my kindergarten students. The language is rich and descriptive. The illustrations are vivid and immaginative. My students laugh at the funny parts and they understand the heart of the story-regardless of ones differences, be they bespectacled or of uncommon name, each person is valuable just by being him or herself. "Way to go!" Ms. Day and Mr. Morris! Michael Stanley, Kindergarten Teacher, City Heights, San Diego
