A Worthy Sequel,
By
This review is from: Luna (Paperback)
Having loved the first book in this Southern Lit Lycanthrope series, I eagerly looked forward to LUNA and it was well worth the wait. Ms. Farago has a real talent for story telling and her clean writing and willingness to steer clear of gore for gore's sake and vivid sex scenes is a breath of fresh air in a genre overridden with trashy pulp (not that there's anything wrong with trashy pulp per se).
I highly recommend reading IVY COLE AND THE MOON before delving into LUNA as many of the characters return. LUNA finds the heroine, Ivy Cole still on the run, constantly on the move as she continues to leave festering carnage wherever she goes. Now she has tagging along with her a daughter, Luna, who has inherited some of her mother's beastly talents. They make a home on the NC coast in a small town and trouble is quick to find them. This book has mystery, action, adventure, horror, romance and touches on morals as Ms. Farago has woven together a fine book and really has a great thing going with this series. Highly recommended! Check out the August 2008 issue of The Horror Library for a more in-depth review.

This is book #2 where we are introduced to Ivy's daughter named Luna, whose father was from book #1 "Ivy Cole and the Moon". It was a strange and interesting story, to me it was better than the 1st book. I don't really know how to describe these books except to say it was a very unique way of doing a werewolf story and that the werewolves looked at right & wrong (eating people) a little different than most books. Also, there was no hot & heavy sex scenes like in many paranormal books.

I loved Ivy Cole and the Moon, and was startled at the cliffhanger, but with Luna, I had all my jollies satisfied. I would like to continue to read the series and find out what happens, to Ivy, Luna and Deputy Sanders, but if Ms. Farago isn't writing any more in this series, I will be satisfied with just these two books.

It was a very solid sequel with an intricate plot and continued development of her wonderful characters. There was an opening at the end that makes me hope that a third book is in the works... though I haven't been able to find any information to confirm that, unfortunately. I certainly will be keeping an eye out for it. It is a wonderful twist on the traditional werewolf myth, well-rooted in factual wolf research, and historical myth research as well. It is just fantastic!

An excellent sequel,

This is the sequel to the novel 'Ivy Cole and the moon' and should not be read before one has read the first of the series since there is a strong connection to events and people in 'Ivy Cole...'.
Ivy had to leave her home and the man she loved when her werewolf-nature got her into trouble with the law. Pregnant when she left, her daughter Luna is now 5 years old and she's quite a handful, especially since she's a werewolf, too, but one who can change without the moon. That's something that makes her interesting to other werewolves who want to get the secret by kidnapping Luna. As if that weren't enough, two people from Ivy's past show up: One who wants revenge, another who wants to win her back - or make her pay for turning him into a werewolf... Just like 'Ivy Cole and the moon', this werewolf-novel is suspenseful, has interesting characters, atmosphere and some humour. I enjoyed it a lot and would recommend both books without any reservations. I hope that the series will continue.

The second book in the Ivy Cole series picks up 5 years after leaving Doe Springs. Ivy now has a child, Luna and she is a wolf like her mother. Ivy's hoping to make a new start in a new town, put Luna in school and get on with life. However, trouble starts almost immediately after arriving. The neighbor across the street is determined to blame Ivy for everything and is a bit crazy. Ivy meets a new man, Caleb and decides she might fall in love a second time. Meanwhile, Ivy's old love Melvin has a secret of his own now and is determined to find Ivy, but he has no clue that a child has been born. Soon another wolf will join the family, a gift to Luna from Uncle Stefan, a wolf like Auf to protect the child. When Ivy is kidnapped the bad guys revealed are shocking. Ivy will learn a new trick herself and justice will be served.
This book is excellent and a page turner like the first book. I just hope it's not the end.

The Best Werewolf Story by Far,
By
This review is from: Luna (Paperback)
This is the second installment of the Ivy Cole series; the author delivers a very suspenseful tale that will keep your attention in full throttle from the begining to the very last page. Every character is unique and plays out thier role accordingly to keep the plot going. A very good book I can't wait to read the third installment of this series.

Luna By Gina Farago,
This review is from: Luna (Paperback)
Yes, my name really is Ivy Cole. Gina Farago's previous book which you must read prior to reading Luna is Ivy Cole and the Moon. I am the real Ivy Cole. Luna is exciting! Full of a mother's love, her willingness to fight to keep her child just like we do in our everyday life. Just like I do every day of my life to save each of my cubs that I love so dearly. This book has love, romance, cool headed thinking. All the elements that make up the lives of families today. But there is one difference Ivy and Luna are able to shape shift into the k-9 they are and take revenge on the people that have wronged them. Then we have our wonderful Aunt Ava, who always brings the most unique and surprising twist to the stories and now we have Luna's Daddy and she our little baby knows who her daddy is without a word spoken she knows her daddy, just like a pure bread of the highest quality will know from wence it has come. But as in all of Gina's Books with the excitment of the fight, the blood and the knashing of teeth love always will prevail. Where will I find myself next? I know but the rest of you have no idea. I hope you all have fun reading this book, please remember that I stand tall with long white fur and can shape shift without a moon, but I had to learn this at and adult age. Funny what we block from out memories when we are a child. Happy Reading from the real Ivy Cole and beware of the shape shifter that may be sitting right next to you in church next Sunday.
