I have two children who are still of bed-wetting age. I felt very bad that they were sleeping on vinyl covers under their sheets since it doesn't breathe. With so many 5-star reviews, I thought this would be the ultimate 5-star solution. I ordered two and was very satisfied with how cool they slept, and how soft and quiet they are. I tested how well it held water before putting them on the beds, and it held a cup-full of water for several minutes. Unfortunately, the first accident that my youngest daughter had leaked through. Granted I don't know how long it took her to wake up and call for us, and she was thoroughly soaked, but it did not hold. There was a very wet spot on the mattress. Very disappointed in the leak, but I appreciate the cooler sleep the kids get, and I think the covers will block minor spills or accidents, and will at least mitigate big ones. I do think this is as good as it gets for non-vinyl covers.

Purchased 2 including a king size for a master bedroom, and a twin for a 4-y-old childs new bed. They both fit well, plenty of room but not too much. Mine (the king) is very comfortable, don't even know it's there.

I was surprised (and nervous) though when I first opened the packages and saw how thin, and lightweight the covers are. I was terrified that if my son had an "accident" - which he hadn't had for several months - his new mattress would be a goner.

Well, the "unfortunate" has now happened twice for some reason and both times nothing went through. My husband took the linens off the bed both times (he gets up before me), so I didn't see either inicidence "initially" - but by the time I headed to the laundry I had to keep looking and looking and never saw signs of anything. Don't know WHERE it went. Have washed it 3x (including the 1st before use) - on cold, lightweight, and not overdrying because it is so lightweight I don't want to wear it out. But definitely amazing. And SO much better than the options out there in the department store which are 2x as much, bulky, and just plain uncomfortable to sleep on.

Pros:
not vinyl (a HUGE plus)
ultra thin (great for storing the extra cover)
goes onto the mattress very easily and covers the whole top portion (our other brand one leaves about an inch of mattress unprotected on the surface sides)

Cons:
does not contain wetness if left for more than a few minutes.

This cover works great for my son who wakes up if he has an accident (so we change it quickly). However, my daughter does not wake up if she has an accident so we usually find out in the mornings that her bedding is wet. By then the mattress is wet. Not soaked, but definitely wet.

If you have a child who alerts you then I don't think you'd be disappointed with this cover!

As others have noted, only the top surface of this pad is waterproof. It's not a bag for the mattress - just a top cover with elastic on the sides to hold it in place.

The top surface has a nice, towel-like feel to it. Unfortunately, that means that if it gets wet you need to launder it -- you can't just wipe it down.

I bought 2 of these for my 2 beds for a 3 yr old and 7 yr old. So far my 3 yr old has wetted his bed atleast 6 times. Luna mattress protector has done an excellent job. Not a single wet spot on the bed.

Recently got a 'big girl bed' for my little one and needed a mattress protector since she's not potty trained yet. This was a great price and it works great. She's had a couple of accidents so far and it protected the mattress just fine.
Haven't had any leakage like other reviews may have stated and the terry cloth top doesn't present a problem so far (one reviewer mentioned terry cloth top was horrible because it stayed wet) however she may not be presenting enough liquid for me to really have a problem. I would definitely suggest this mattress cover, it works great.

Update: Now that my daughter is moving toward pull-ups and the whole potty training issue... I can see how previous reviews mentioned how they hated terry cloth cover. When my daughter has larger accidents during the night and there's substantially more urine, the terry cloth cover will absorb the urine and remain damp making it necessary to wash the mattress protector as well as the bedsheets(so if your looking to simply replace the bedsheets you may want to pass on this one). However, I'm still happy with the product. It has continued to protect the mattress beautifully and still remains soft/not a loud plastic cover underneath for an affordable price.

I bought two of these to replace our old mattress pads. The Luna mattress pads are so thin and flexible! They're not padded so they don't take up two thirds of the washing machine. The sides have some give so it's not a fight to make the beds.

I've had them for about six months now and they're still like new, even though I often have to wash them weekly.

I bought this product because my daughter is "night-time potty training" and I wanted something that breathed and would be comfortable to sleep on. This has totally done the trick for us. She does not wake up hot, and it has totally saved the mattress on at least 3 bed wettings so far, and a stomach flu that wasn't very pretty. You can't even notice it under the sheet. I waited to try it out first to make sure it worked before I bought the 2nd one as a "back-up" - in case she has an accident in the middle of the night so I can change it then and there. Yeah, you have to wash it in the washing machine after an accident, but I don't think I would have her sleep on something that had been peed on and I had "just wiped down," anyways. This is probably the 5th time I've washed it and it's totally holding up fine. I highly recommend this product!!

This is a great product. It's very soft, there is no PVC or chemical smell, and it seems well-made. We're actually buying another, for our bed (we bought the first one for our daughter). I'm very happy we bought this, rather than the cheap ones at the local big box store. With the warranty, it will be cheaper in the long run.

We needed this for our son who is sensitive to dust-mites and other critters. I am very impressed with how light and thin this is, while still being waterproof. It has helped his nighttime congestion and it washes and dries well. Way cheaper than having to buy a new mattress!
