Not great for <6 weeks old
on December 12, 2014
Many readers have noted this pillow is much larger and comfier than some other popular alternatives, and especially good if the person doing the feeding is a bit larger. I can see this pillow being ideal when my baby gets older, as I plan to nurse for a while. However, for my newborn, up until about 1 month+ (and my baby's on the bigger side), I think a smaller pillow would have been better. Now that Baby's 6 weeks old, she fits better, but in previous weeks I had to supplement this pillow with a second throw pillow from my couch to keep my baby from sliding in between my abdomen and this Bosom Baby pillow (I'm not a super skinny person, but definitely on the thinner side).
So, right now, at 6 weeks the pillow's OK. In a month or two, I might be glad I have it's nice larger size to support my baby. From birth to 4-6 weeks, not ideal for me, and I wouldn't recommend.
Follow up: Baby's now 4.5 months old and as a pillow it works just fine, BUT the soft, almost fleece, 100% polyester cover is soooo hot on her face. It's a comfortable, breezy 70 degrees right now, but I just finished nursing her with my windows open and poor baby's face was soaked with sweat and bright red on the side facing the pillow. I wish they sold a 100% cotton cover; is buy it for the summer months. I just knocked my rating from a 3 to a 2.
