I really wanted to like this guitar... but:,
This review is from: Luna Trinity 12-String Acoustic/Electric Guitar Cutaway - Natural (Electronics)
I've been playing guitar for over 40 years and in time have owned more than my share of 12-strings, good and bad. I purchased my Luna Trinity 12-string about six months ago. I looked long and hard at the literature on Luna instruments, read through the reviews, considered my alternatives, and decided to get one. Fit and finish were about average for a instrument in this price range, with a minor but noticeable blemish on the wood face of the guitar. The tuners tend to "bind" up and become hard to turn, even though they appear to be fairly good quality individual enclosed pieces built to look a lot like Grover tuners. The action was very nice right out of the box and required no adjustment. Beautiful sound from the low end through the high end, no complaints there. The neck is another issue. C-shape, overly thick, front-to-back, and even though I have large hands, long fingers, it is uncomfortable for me to play. And this last complaint is the one that made me decide just a few weeks ago to sell it. I don't need something sitting in my collection if I won't pick it up and play it.

This is one beautiful guitar. The trinity inlay is gorgeous, and it has a great sound for a guitar in this price range. Just one complaint... and it's not a small one. When it arrived, the action was so low the strings would just buzz against the frets. It took some effort to adjust the neck to raise the action sufficiently to get rid of the buzz when playing midway up the neck. I've played many new guitars, and have never seen one with the neck this badly out of adjustment right out of the box.

This is a beautiful instrument,

And it plays very nice. I am an amateur at all this but I wanted a 12 string to play REM songs. I could have gotten a cheaper one and with my inexperience, I may not have known what a well made guitar is worth. The play is GREAT. I can honestly say that I have played this instrument every day. Holds tuning very well. Side note. I never used an electronic tuning device. I would find low E and then tune up with harmonics. It took me a while to get use to this but once you do, wow.

The first Luna 12-string guitar I received on Friday was used, though I ordered new. There was a big gash in the top along the seam from what looked like a box cutter. The back also had a finger size dent. Splinters were even hanging out. It also had a black oil of some sort on the fret board. At first I thought it was the shipping because it was only shipped in it's original guitar box with no outer box, but the dents and gashes didn't align with the dents and cuts in the box.Amazon had a new one to me by Monday. The service and shipping at Amazon is amazing. The new guitar had an outer box along with the original packaging. The Luna Trinity 12-string guitar itself sounds a little shallow, but I don't think it's the guitar, rather the strings. The strings included are D'addario and they are light, maybe extra light. I'm going to try Ernie Ball 2051's. I love the Ernie Ball Earthwood strings on my 6 string Silvertone Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar, Natural. It made a world of difference and suspect it will on this Luna. Rule of thumb: Always change the strings from OEM. The volume is very loud. Maybe too loud for me. If you are in a larger room it would probably be great. The tuners and tuning keys are great. I'm not sure what brand but the guitar stays tuned and they are easy to turn with just enough tension you can feel how much you've adjusted. The guitar also has an excellent onboard electronic tuner. It's very fast and doesn't jump around guessing like other tuners. Also, the onboard pre-amp sounds great and you can change the lows, mids, and highs to be what you want out of the amp. It also has a 1/4" jack and a TRS jack which makes it nice to connect to a sound system even if you don't have a DI box for long runs. Both worked fine on my sound system. It did sound a little different from one jack to the other, but that's expected. The build quality seems to be good. The top is solid spruce unlike others at this price range. The finish is a high gloss. The rosewood fretboard, even on the new, had some black 'stuff' coming off onto my fingers. I cleaned it very well with lemon oil and it seemed to take it off and made it look nicer. I can tell 12 strings really pull on a lot more than 6, the bridge pulls up slightly, but most 6 strings and nearly all 12 strings do. If you are going to store it be sure to lessen the tension. The saddle is a little high (it's better than too low!) for my liking. I like the action low, but I just sanded the saddle down and that fixed my issues. The design of the Celtic Trinity symbol is very nice too. I think this is what closed the deal for me (along with Amazon lowering the price one night). The size is about the same as my six string. The body is a littler narrower, but very similar. The neck is wider and thicker than most 6 strings, but that is expected with a 12 string. Overall, I find this to be a very nice guitar built very well and the sound is great. Maybe a little shallow, but changing the strings to a medium will probably take care of that. I'll find out. I believe this will last. Again, I will find out.

I recently purchased the Luna Trinity 12 String. This guitar is, for the price, amazing. I have read reviews that say this guitar is easy to play, stays in tune, and the electronics are good. These are all true. I have also read reviews that say the tone is very thin. I disagree with this to some extent. Is the tone thinner than a jumbo body style? Yes. Does it sound like a cigar box with strings? No. The tone is perfectly fine for what I am using it for. Besides, if you are buying an acoustic/electric guitar you are usually buying it because of the ability to plug it in. In that case, you can eq this guitar to sound any way you like. Another review I read stated that it was a quiet guitar. I have not had any issues with the volume being quiet. Everyone plays differently, so if you are a light picker you probably have this issue with other guitars as well. I have not had the guitar for very long, but at this point I am very pleased with the quality, look, sound and playability of this guitar. I would recommend it to anyone interested in a 12 string. Side notes - This is my 2nd 12 string (my first being a Yamaha). I've also been playing for about 25 years.Rock on and God bless!

I am so happy to have bought this guitar. It has a "WOW" factor in it's design and it sounds as good as it looks. Could not be happier. Great bargin. If you are considering this ...buy it. You won't be sorry.

I've been playing my new Luna Trinity 12-String Acoustic/Electric Guitar Cutaway - Natural for two weeks now, both plugged and unplugged, and I'm very happy. The guitar is physically beautiful, the action is easy, the onboard tuner is very convenient, the tone is great. I'm one happy camper.
