Well this was a very light / fluffy read (with emphasis on very). There's no other way to describe this book. Even though it was entertaining, and very amusing when a certain ghost started meddling, there was not much depth in this story. Everything went too smooth, too easy. Even when watching CSI, they usually end up with several dead ends before finding the murderer. Here it was way too obvious how the story would end and therefore I could not feel any angst or excitement for figuring everything out correctly.

There were also times in the book were the point of view switched to Flynn, to see his thoughts about certain events. Normally I'm someone who can't get enough from reading through the eyes of the romantic interest, the very hot bad boy, who might or might not have certain feelings for the main character. This time, however, I cringed every time I was in Flynn's head. It just felt wrong (sorry can't describe it any other way). It was like Flynn didn't have his own voice, his own identity. It seemed as if he became Tara, what should not be possible even with all her powers. And it just felt awful.

We also have a major case of insta love. Fortunately there were not a lot of romantic moments. That was another thing that made me cringe. Unless you're soulmates (and even then) it's just not possible to develop such strong feelings in such a short amount of time. Thank God romance wasn't a big issue in this story and was kept in the background.

The ghosts were very fun, though. Especially Millicent and her mother-bear-whose-cub-is-threatened behavior made me smile. I really liked her. It was a shame, though, that we only got to know the ghosts as clouds of plasma with a voice. I'd really liked some more info.

This is a really great start to anew series...can't wait to see what comes next. Tara is a terrific character with a strong voice and I love reading about her adventures. Flynn is great...with realistic flaws and the relationship with Tara is great, even though it is not all smooth sailing.
The book is an overall good read except that Tara's mom experienced a name change from book 1 to book 2 and no one ever speaks of her Dad...and who or what is Patrick running from?
I hope this series lasts for a while and doesn't end after this author's typical three books. Can't wait for the next release.

I LOVED the first book in this series, My Lunatic Life ! I loved the ghost story feel to it and it also had a pretty good mystery, so I was super excited to read its sequel! Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.

In Lunatic Detective we basically get a continuation of the last book's mystery surrounding DeeDee's murder. Tara tries to prove that DeeDee's brother killed her, wile said brother is actually stalking Tara. Yikes, I know. At the same time this is going on, Tara also starts noticing this evil darkness lurking around her. Now, what the heck it is, I have no idea, but it really wants to hurt her.

This book though, it just wasn't as fun and interesting as the first one! I mean, there wasn't really a mystery to solve... we already know who DeeDee's killer is and all Tara is trying to do is prove it. And this whole deal actually gets solved pretty early on in the book.

But I didn't hate this book! I also didn't love it, though. It was just kind of... meh. One thing I did love about this book, though, was Flynn! He is so, SO sweet and charming and gorgeous and *swoon* But anyway, I'm looking forward to finding out what this "darkness" thing is and what it wants.

It was entertaining but probably more suited to young teens. It leaves one issue unresolved for the next book in the series.

I chose to rate this novel a five star reading experience because it was well written and totally enjoyable as is customary when I read Sharon Sala (Dinah McCall) works. This novel had me enthralled from the first chapter and I was unable to put it down until I was finish reading the whole thing. I have read 90% of the books written by Mrs. Sala and this was a new and different type of writing from the rest in that she told it from a teenage point of view. She is a skilled novelist and was able to write a more teenage based novel that was stimulating even to me; a forty-six year old! I appreciate writers that captivate and interest me at the same time. Thank you for allowing me ( an avid reader) to experience this totally enthusiastic and refreshing experience!

With gratitude,
Debbie

Once you've read "My Lunatic Life" by Sharon Sala it's almost impossible not to want to read on, and that's what I've done.

Sharon is a gifted and well known author and it shows in her ability to create realistic narrative, and although there are many tense moments in Tara's life
there are often deft humorous touches which made me laugh out loud.

It's those small deft touches that add layers of interest to any story and She is a master.

Read one and you'll want to read them all.

Don't say I haven't warned you, brew an extra large pot of your favorite caffeinated
beverage!.
