Action! Silliness! Pictures galore! It's no wonder that comic books and graphic novels are a big hit with kids. We've loved how authors artists are creating fun graphic stories for younger readers. This new series will find many fans among 1st through 3rd graders looking for a fun adventure in their comics.
In this second book of the series, our secret crime-fighting duo takes on the evil schemes of the school librarians. Kids will love the plot, as the librarians try to destroy all video games and achieve world domination. The snazzy gadgets continue, with Taco-vision Night Goggles, Hover Pizzas and Sonic Boom Juice Boxes. I loved how the librarians unleashed creatures from stories to battle Lunch Lady and her gang. I especially liked how Krosoczka created an action-packed comic book with a goofiness that makes it perfect for this younger set. This doesn't have any of the dark undertones that some graphic novels or comic superhero stories have. This is not a book with a lot of character development, but I think its purpose is to hook readers and make them laugh. Want more great books? Come to [...]

As a reading tutor I am always looking for high interest books for my dyslexic students. This series of books is perfect--it's funny and has a lot of lively pictures of the cafeteria Lunch Lady saving the day, plus the words used are a good mix of mainly easy and with some challenging ones thrown in too. I have a very smart eleven year old student who can only read at the first or early second grade level and he loves this book. It takes him a long time, but not only can he read almost all of it himself, I have to take the book out of his hands at the end of our session because he is completely engrossed.

It's not easy to find books my son and daughter both enjoy, but the Lunch Lady series hits the right note of action + humor that keeps them both laughing and reading. I think they're funny too. Love the gadgets. Good job!

Reading isn't just about school and I have 4 great nieces and nephews that I really hoped would love reading. Two of them don't; the Lunch Lady was part of my plan to entice them to read and...it worked! The fact that it looks like comic strips was an immediate win; the story was fun and interesting. I kept the books at my house and they didn't finish the one they were reading in the first visit. The true test of whether the books were worth it was the kids reaction when they returned for the second visit; they picked up the book they were reading and finished them! No school work; no book report...just fun! I'll be adding more of these books for future visits and also start sneaking in some regular books too. Thanks Lunch Lady...You Rock!

OK, so our daughter read the 4th book in the series first and was hooked! Let me start off by saying she was NOT a fan of reading before she read this book and seemed to resist reading on her own. Well, she was loving the first book she was reading so much I ordered the rest of the series. Amazon was speedy quick with delivery and she devoured this book in just one day! (Seriously, we had to tell her to stop reading to eat!) She is so proud of her new accomplishment (M & D are too!) and could not wait to get her hands on the next one. So glad I ordered all of them!
(FYI-It does not seem to matter which order they read the books) Big-Big thumbs up!! We have already pre-ordered the next book in the series, coming out end of Dec 2010.

I am a year Four teacher and my students loved this book SO much, they made up a song about it. Lunch Lady is awesome and now that graphic novels are becoming more popular, this book was a highlight for both the boys and the girls. With the incredible gadgets, the humor and the well drawn illustrations, this book is a simple but fun read for children aged between 7 and 12. Lots to keep the kids interested, and the following books in the series were just as enthralling!!
