I got the Trio and the orange-lided Duo.

Pros
I like the sleek, modern look of the silver lid (I think the Uno comes with both silver and painted-lid versions). The Trio is much more rectangular (important to me because I like things modular) and the Duo more oval shaped. Because of its shape, the Trio holds slightly more food.

Cons
The Trio seems to have a different stainless steel lining. It's a bit rougher whereas the Duo has a really smooth, shiny surface inside. The divider seems to be sturdier on the Duo as well. The vertical line on the T-bar divider is not perfectly straight in mine. Handwashing is harder with the Trio because of that extra section.

On both items, the divider is not completely sealed off at the edges and that millimeter opening will let soup, for instance, through. But I had no problems with slightly wet cut-up fruit.

Overall, Duo is more versatile (2 halves of sandwich, 1 wet 1 dy sections, etc.) and I use it almost everyday. But I still like the Trio because I pack smaller portions of various food items. Having that extra section helps.

this is a good little box for dry snacks but since the dividers allow juices to run underneath it is not good for mixing items like fruit with crackers or if you put dip in one of the sections for example it would run into the other 2

I purchased these for my kids and pyrex for my husband as we are replacing plastic in our home for durability reasons.

I have been able to completely replace lunchables and other premade to-go meals in our home with these containers.

I have not tried anything very liquidy because like other reviews have stated the dividers are not flush with the bottom, but it holds crackers, nuts, and fruit great.

I have added pictures to the customer images.

I placed them side by side a lunchable so you can see the difference in size.

These have held up to washings and soaking without rusting. They have also been in backpacks and travled with grandma and back without any trouble.

I was a bit the concerned about the colored lid having chipping paint, but so far after about 6 months of use there is no paint chipping at all.

June 2015 - over 2 years later. These are still holding up well. A few of them have dings in them, but nothing that effects the function of the container. I am surprised the paint on the colored lids hasn't chipped more, but there are very few chips in the paint. They spent the year going back and forth to school with my boy through K & 1.

I was highly disappointed in this item. I've purchased multiple Lunchbots containers in the past (with the painted lids) and never had an issue. But this one was just very poorly made. The welded partitions were at odd angles and completely uneven. It was as if there was no quality control at all, I had to send it back.

It's inevitable that mistakes happen, and we will gladly replace any defective product at no cost, or refund your purchase price. Rest assured we have improved our QA processes thanks to your review and the positive reviews since 2011 attest to that.

I've been using our LunchBots Trio to pack lunches for my 3 and 7 year old kids for a few months now and I really love it. It is well made and very sturdy -- it will definitely hold up to the abuse my boys give it. I pack bento style lunches for my kids and the three compartments in this box make the process easy and fun (see some examples here: [...]). Because it's dishwasher safe, it can go on the top or bottom rack which I also love.

We returned this item since the edges were too sharp on the inside. Not good for young children. The design and the concept is good, but the product quality was not upto par.

Dear GK,
We regret the sharp edges on your container in 2010. Please know that we have changed the processes in our factory to assure the edges are folded and polished so that no sharp edges appear on the product. These are no longer an issue.

We are a family owned company and we do learn from our reviews. Please know that we always stand behind our items and will gladly replace or refund any product you deem sub-par.

In my never-ending attempt to use reusable containers, I really thought these would work great! They do for me when I use them, but my 4,6, & 8 year olds have difficulty opening them at school. If you're using them for your kiddo's lunches, have them test drive the container before sending them off to school. The concept and quality are fantastic, they just aren't child-friendly!

I purchased several Lunchbot stainless steel food containers, some with plain lids, and some with colored lids. The paint on the colored lids is not durable. Yes, the instructions say to hand-wash them, and there's a reason. I did not see those instructions, and now the paint is peeling off, and the "Lunchbots" logo in white is smearing off like some wet paint. It is NOT something you want to use for your kid's meal.

The stainless steel covers I have that are not colored are fine, and I really like the product overall, they do just what I want them to do. I just have to go pay for new covers.

The partitions inside the box are not tight - if you have a liquid, like water from washed fruit, it will get into the other compartments. I don't find this to be a deal-breaker.

So, I'm giving 3 stars because the colored lids are 0 stars, and the boxes themselves are a 5.
