Biography

Marilyn Manson has been singled out by conservative commentators as a prime example of evil music, the kind of music that alienates teenagers and makes them do wrong. But Brian Warner and his bandmates are intelligent examiners of the dark side of life, so much so that they have sold over 50 million records worldwide (as of May 2009) - and not all of those who bought them became miscreants.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lunchbox Party!, August 31, 2004

This review is from: Lunchbox / Down in the Park / Brown Bag / Metal (Audio CD)
I can easily why Lunchbox became a single from Portrait of an American Family. It was, and will always be a fun song. Any Manson fan who doesn't find this song occasionally popping up in his or her head, aught to be ashamed of themselves. It's about rebellion, violence and growing up and being a big rock n' roll Star. With this big single we are given the Original Lunchbox, the B-side Down in the Park, 3 Remix's and an Edit. The original is great in itself. Down in the Park is a very cool cover of the weird Gary Numan song. The 3 remix's are all pretty good, but I would say that the best remix is the Next Motherf***er remix. And I can only see the edit used by High school or college DJ's. I'm one of them so it's ok with me. Normally I am annoyed by Edits but this one somehow doesn't tap that little button in by head that says BURN AND DESTROY. Hope this helped. Bye.

5.0 out of 5 stars On we plough, March 29, 2000

This review is from: Lunchbox / Down in the Park / Brown Bag / Metal (Audio CD)
This is a Maxi CD from the time when Manson singles still used to be great. The original song is one of the very best from Portrait of an American Family (What Manson fan didn't find him/herself wandering through the streets singing 'I've got my Lunchbox and I'm armed real well'?). The remixes are done by Charlie Clouser, and that already says it all. Clouser (NIN- and White-Zombie-keyboarder) is one of the best remixers around, and so Next Motherf***er, Brown Bag, and Metal are all great (though they do sound a bit alike, admittedly). Highschool Drop-Outs is not a remix, but just the censored radio version, and I guess it's rather a joke it landed on this single. The true highlight, however, is the new song Down in the Park, a Gary Newman cover version which is much more mature than many others on the Portrait CD, and the best Manson song from the early years. Amazon.com only lists four tracks, however the 6-track version is the only one I know. Four or six, get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny, April 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Lunchbox / Down in the Park / Brown Bag / Metal (Audio CD)
one of the few singles well worth it, 4 songs that were only released on this single. the 3 remixes of lunchbox (next mofo, brown bag and metal) Give this classic manson song a funky new twist. and the cover of Down in the Park, is one that lives up to Gary Newman's origional.
