I notice that no reviewer has claimed to have ever traded the "system", made a dime from it, or even invested a dime and lost it. Just as well.

In this short book, the author introduces the reader to Day Trading, a form of stock investing that tries to capitalize on slight fluctuations in the market over the course of the day.

The information presented here falls into three categories:

1 - How to get started. This includes the technical aspects of what type of computer to use, internet connections and software requirements. He discusses potential lunchtime locations you may choose to do your trading and how to find the right spot.

2 - How to buy and sell stocks
This covers such stock-trading specific information as on-line brokerages, fees, and commissions. He discusses some of tools that are available for the trader to get information.

3 - How to pick stocks and time the buys and sells. In this category, he presesnt three strategies. The Last Hour of Trading, Buying on the Dip and Sympathy Plays. He also gives good advice on when to NOT hang on to a stock.

This book is easy to read, but I have some concerns. I am not an active stock market investor so am not qualified to judge the investing strategies covered. But I my humble opinion, the mix of entry-level, simple how-to-get-started information (although good information) here with what I consider to be a more advanced and high risk approach to investing may lead the reader to assume it is safer than it really is.

This book contains good information but new investors should start sloooooow.

5.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding reference book, November 30, 2004

To ensure you perceive this review as credible (and I do hope you will), I must first state my bias: I know and respect the author and I reviewed the book while he was in the process of writing it.

So, yes, given that connection I know it's not exactly a surprise that I would rate the book so highly. But I truly believe this is an outstanding book worthy of this level of praise. This is why.

One, the author understands the real world. We all have a lot we need to do, but we don't have a lot of time. But we also know that getting rich overnight is usually a fantasy. Everything he talks about is grounded in that, and so you see him as credible.

Equally important, he doesn't merely skim over the less glamorous topic of how to actually DO what he talks about, in fact he focuses on it. I like that much of the book is step by step guidance on how to get started with wireless online investing, what options you have and how to decide which is best for you, common problems you might encounter and how to solve them, and so on. All the little details.

This is an excellent reference book, both on conservative investing strategies and on using wireless technology, full of information and yet concise and easy to absorb.

Very readable, very, very interesting and fun! This is an amazing way to learn about investing and to take charge of your finances. With the potential of what you can make, it opens up the opportunities of going after your dreams. There is an enormous amount of information and I thought I knew much about the exchanges and investing.

What I enjoy most about this book is that it feels like you are learning a way of making money that is easy and you are learning it from a friend, like you have an inside track. There are a tremendous number of Web resources. With the 3 clear strategies, trading and winning at it seems so doable. The timing on this book couldn't be better Wi Fi, ECNs, 3G. This companion-like book will get you through the not so familiar arena of the trading world.

5.0 out of 5 stars concise, informative, and effective!, April 14, 2005
This review is from: Lunchtime Millionaire: A Step-By-Step Guide To Building Wealth...On Your Lunch Hour (Paperback)
I am a college student and a finance major, and although I have spent extensive time studying the stock market in class, I was still a little confused. This book made everything clear. It was concise, informative, and as soon as I start making some real money when I get out of school, I plan on utilizing the strategies described in the book. I would recommend this book for anyone at any stage in life who wishes to make money on the stock market without investing considerable amounts of time.

The problem is that if you need a book to tell you about finance.yahoo.com, it's very unlikely you'll find day trading easy--at least this year. It's like saying that getting into the olympics is easy: just go down to the swimming pool and practice, then win the us championships and you are on your way to an olympic gold medal. If you could win a gold following those instructions, you can make your million waiting for your lunch to be served. It'll be easy.

This review is from: Lunchtime Millionaire: A Step-By-Step Guide To Building Wealth...On Your Lunch Hour (Paperback)
Very enjoyable book - the first one I've read that is easy to understand. I especially appreciated the author's information on the necessary technology (laptop, wireless connection, etc.) and also his suggestions on informative websites. I checked the websites out and finance.yahoo.com is quite useful, as he said. He also gives a few easily understandable steps to take to begin investing, and even tells the readers what to do at specific times of the day. I found that to be especially useful, when to go online, what to look for, how to make the decision on what stocks to buy, when to sell.
However, this is the equivalent of a really good book on betting on the horse races. It is still gambling. No matter how easy it sounds, it is still taking a risk and the returns he says are possible are only that - they are not guaranteed. The author recommends focussing on small profits, three to five percent, but the opposite is also true. You could lose your entire nest egg three to five percent at a time.

I had the pleasure to speak with the author in person in NYC at the New York City Traders Expo in February 2005 where he was previewing a demo of his new stock picking website www.lunchtimetrading.com. He impressed me as quite the expert! He was very much a gentleman and took quite a bit of time to explain the strategies that he discusses in his book Lunchtime Millionaire. I was so intrigued by the strategies and decided to purchase his book. I found that Lunchtime Millionaire is quite an enjoyable and easy read. Didier really does take the fear out of trading in the stock market. I have started to follow his strategy of momentum trading. I find my self referring back to the book whenever I have a question, it is a great point of reference!

I would highly recommend Lunchtime Millionaire to anyone interested in making money in the stock market using a short term and low risk method!

I would also check out his new website which I believe will be a great compliment to the book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Informative, June 21, 2005
This review is from: Lunchtime Millionaire: A Step-By-Step Guide To Building Wealth...On Your Lunch Hour (Paperback)
I have never traded stocks in my life, or even thought of dabbling in investment opportunities. To me, investment was only for those who were already rich or extremely intelligent, until I read this book. It is a work showing that with time, knowledge and using the technology available to us today, a financial increase in our lives is possible. Great news for all of us!
The author does an outstanding job of being patient with his readers, taking his time to explain his full program and the steps you are to do to make it work for you. He even takes the time to explain to you the best choices of a computer, software and internet connection to use. Now that is one good teacher.
Want to increase your financial standards over lunch? Perhaps this is the book for you.It is packed full of useful informatin, told in an easy to understand way. Good investment for those serious about improving their financial future.
