Who can solve the mystery of Belinda?, May 29, 2004
This review is from: Le Lundi Au Soleil (Audio CD)
This album is in some ways a typical pop album of its time, with plenty of great original songs including the outstanding title track.
There are translated covers of American and British songs - these include On ne choisit pas (Rain - Jose Feliciano), Un fille et des fleurs (You can't hurry love - Supremes) and Tu as tes problemes moi j'ai les miens (You've got your troubles - Fortunes).
Belinda is an intriguing song, credited to writers D Parton and Eddy Marnay. I can't trace a Dolly song with that title (fair enough) but I don't recognize the song from its melody either. Eddy obviously is the translator, but I'd certainly like to know the origin of the song. (Problem solved - see comment attached to review.)
If you enjoy mainstream seventies pop music sung in French, you'll surely enjoy this.
