5.0 out of 5 stars The eighth wonder
With this new album Dulce Pontes obtains the absolute mastery of her voice. Breaking with her last album, in this one she sings original songs that fit her voice like a glove. Nevertheless she does not forget the portuguese popular music - fado. If you like good music, I absolutly recommend this album to you

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring!
After experiencing the voice of Dulce Pontes along with Andrea Bocelli in the "O Mare e tu" cut on his Sogno CD, I had to hear more from this fabulous singer! Her voice in that cut (her instrument indeed!) was raw, gypsy-like, emotional, captivating, sensual! I would play it over and over again with the volume on the CD player set just below the threshold of pain...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fado Forever!, September 18, 2006

Being a newly inducted fan of fado music, I purchased this cd based on recommendations found here and on other sites.

I knew from the first track that this was something special. The arrangements are superb with a more upbeat vs. stark Fado tunes (even though there is nothing wrong with that). Most importantly, what a voice and does it ever carry!

I think Dulce Pontes is an unmistakable talent that would be a hit in any language, country, or genre. She has won me over with her vocals but also much credit must be given to the arrangements and producer of such a fine disc!

In this new album the amazing voice of Dulce Pontes comes to a maximum of beauty and at the same time potence. Breaking with her last album, Dulce Pontes appears with new original songs that fit her voice like a glove. Nevertheless, Dulce Pontes does not forget the portuguese popular song - fado - which we can understand beneath each song in this album. If you like good music, do not hesitate and guy this album

I would play it over and over again with the volume on the CD player set just below the threshold of pain. Through research at Amazon I found out that she has several CDs available. But, which one to buy? I read several reviews of her CD Lusitana and settled on it because someone said it was a return to the more traditional Portugese melodies. So, I bought it. Well, when I listen to it I have to pinch myself to make sure I am not in an elevator. It is boring, boring, boring. Sure, she has a nice voice but it ain't the one I heard in O Mare e Tu! The Lusitana CD is reminiscent of a Linda Ronstadt attempt to sing her favorite Mexican ballads. I have not heard cuts from other Pontes' CDs, but if someone has equated her performance in Bocelli's CD with another of her CDs, please let me know. I will be an instant buyer!
