In one word...Amazing,
This review is from: Lust for Blood (Audio CD)
Lust for Blood is a masterpiece and it truly shows that Velvet Acid Christ is here to stay. On this album, we can clearly see a dramatic change not only in album production but also in song writing and sound quality as well. Bryan Erickson, the mastermind behind VAC, has excellent taste in all kinds of music and he demonstrates that on this album. As a result, no two songs on LFB are exactly the same. From the second "Wound" starts, you know you are in for something special. It is the perfect way to start the album and is filled with emotion that gets under your skin. "Crushed" is full of beautiful guitars reminiscent of The Cure with VAC's trademark distorted vocals on top. "Disconnected Nightmare" on the other hand, will instantly appeal to longtime fans and is reminiscent of the 1999-2000 era of VAC. "Polyester Meth Zeus" has an undeniable amount of industrial flavor to it and is angry and power driven. In my opinion, "Ghost in the Circuit" is VAC's most beautiful song ever due to the heavenly choirs and endless layers of sound. "Machine" shows a completely different side to VAC altogether and both the vocals and the music and will definitely surprise longtime fans. "Blood" is the dark epic of the album and is complete with evil sounding piano and guitar and seems like it's beckoning the apocalypse. "Psychoaktive Landscapes" and "Ghost Regen" are two more awesome instrumentals, the former of which actually shares many similarities with the legendary electronic duo Orbital. This album marks a new era for Velvet Acid Christ and guarantees them a place in the history of electronic music. Whether you are new to Velvet Acid Christ or are a diehard fan, you owe it to yourself to buy this album.

Yay for new VAC material,
This review is from: Lust for Blood (Audio CD)
I am relatively new to Velvet Acid Christ's music so I can't pretend to be an expert on their music. I recently acquired the new VAC album "Lust for Blood". I was not disappointed to say the very least. "Lust for Blood" has all the elements in electro/industrial music that I like. Normally I do not enjoy distorted vocals but in this case, I liked the distorted vocals. The only negative thing about the distorted vocals that I couldn't understand what Bryan Erickson was singing about without looking at the cd booklet. I especially loved the instrumental tracks which were quite beautiful, a far contrast from the harsh distorted beats of the other songs. I wasn't too impressed with VAC's previous studio effort "Hex Angel". It wasn't bad but it wasn't all that great either. The music didn't really capture the essence of Velvet Acid Christ like their previous albums and now "Lust for Blood". The lyrics may be cheesy but at least Bryan Erickson doesn't take himself too seriously with his music like a lot of industrial bands do.

Now I am not a huge Velvet Acid Christ follower by any means, but I do listen to a lot of electronic music. I started listening to VAC back in 97 when Calling OF The Dead came out. That record is still fantastic to this day and showcases great samples, synths, guitars, and atmosphere. The following releases Fun With Knives, Twisted Thought Generator, and Hex Angel were pretty lackluster and boring in my opinion. They showcased over-use of samples and the same boring raver-synths. Basically I couldn't tell VAC apart from the other electronic industrial bands. Well, I took a chance with Lust For Blood because I heard there was more guitar and lusher melodies than before. The result is one of the best industrial dance albus I have heard in years. Even the synths on this record are fresh sounding. The vocals are very wispy and quiet and the guitar is played in a warm tone. This album has everything going for it and I am surprised that after a series of duds VAC has once again made a fantastically dark album. I love the theme of the album too. Very morbid and not so cheesy like Fun With Knives. I totally recommend this to even the Casual industrial/electronic fan. Fun album
