5.0 out of 5 stars Review reprint from HQ Poetry Magazine (The Haiku Quarterly), October 10, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Lust for Blueprints (Paperback)
With few exceptions [the] poems in the book would have earned the approval of both Hulme (for symbolic imagery) and Eliot (for intellectual vision); but there is more--watch out for the cobra in this poet--a lot of the poems throb with anger and outrage and lead the reader from warmth and light into some very dark and chilling corners indeed; seemingly innocent images strike, almost physically, within the moment of comprehension. This is a book of accessible, exciting, and thought-provoking poetry. It deserves the appreciation of the "general" reader and the admiration of fellow poets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mind-searing verse from a master, June 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Lust for Blueprints (Paperback)
This is a collection of poems that is destined to blow a hole the size of China into the literary firmament.

"The Lust for Blueprints" is the work of a visionary wizard who guides the reader through the nether-regions of the soul. The works in this book demand to be read over and over again, even as the rhythms of the poetry become a part of you like an irresistible melody.

4.0 out of 5 stars State-of-the-art, June 18, 1999

This review is from: The Lust for Blueprints (Paperback)
When you live in a world where ADD is the norm and where speed is a virtue, what art-form will best command your attention, attract your imagination, call out to you across the trenches of commercial warfare? Azzouni says it's poetry, of course. And with this book, Jody Azzouni finally asserts poetry's new role in contempory aesthetics: insight in sound bites, stories in seconds.
