more great music to another amazing ang lee tragedy.,

hearing the strings rise in over the piano on that 'angel' tune is breathtaking...beautiful score to an unforgettable film...see it in the theater while you still can, this music is a big stand out.

A Elegiac Score with Heart and Soul,
By LJ "Linda" (NY, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lust, Caution (Score) (Audio CD)
If you have seen the movie, the score has even more relevance and beauty. The music takes you into elegiac bliss--as oxymoronic as the title of the film! I have used the music to assist myself in writing and in feeling the way that the heart resurects in pain. I thoroughly recommend this soundtrack.

I have not seen the movie but the score is so moving and intuitive that you find the intrigue, the romance, the passion to be your own. You may even want to check your passport to see whether or not you have really been there after experiencing this beautifully captivating masterpiece. Alexandre Desplat has become a favorite of mine.

Evocative Music,
By Julie "Julie Wenders" (Oak Park, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lust, Caution (Score) (Audio CD)
The score is beautifully and sensitively written - and the piano pieces (Track 2, 3, 21, & 22) have a strong romantic yearning in them. You could just play them over and over again. But seriously, this soundtrack complement's Ang Lee's understated and very nuanced movie. I would recommend that you watch the show and then buy the soundtrack. FIVE STARS for both!

Beautiful, beautiful soundtrack,

This is a first-class soundtrack and one of Desplat's best pieces of work. Repeated listening pays off.
Highly recommended.

I haven't seen the film that this music is from, but it is beautiful nonetheless. It's a far cry from the standard horn-heavy filmscores of today (which I am also fond of), and the only thing I can really compare it to is the soundtrack to Pan's Labyrinth by Javier Navarrete (another excellent score - I bought it a few minutes after finishing the movie). Most certainly worth the price.

As always, it helps to see the movie to know if you are going to like the score. I hear a little of "The Usual Suspects" in it. Not necessarily in arraingments or sound, but in mood and tone. A lot of deep, long notes in this one, lots of layers.
You feel a sort of power when you listen to this score. It will provoke emotion in you. Great buy.

Alexandre Desplat keeps getting better. I loved his work for The Painted Veil, The Queen, Girl with a Pearl Earring and The Beat My Heart Skipped. I think Lust, Caution may be his best work yet. He captures the sadness and melancholy of the film beautifully. A must for any film score collector.

The sound track of this movie (Lust Caution), is not the original track from the movie as shown in the USA. Considering that 50% of the emotional impact of the movie comes from the music,is disappointing to see the manufacurers have introduced a cheap change for an economic reason of their own.

I love all the tracks of this CD
BUT I'm not satisfied with it. Because I was looking for a CD containing the 25th track(Yan-Mo) and information on Amazon.com shows that this product has that track. But there's no 25th track. (I live in Korea, so I had to buy this thru friends living is the States. But we can buy this CD without that track here) I got the CD with beautiful songs but this is not that I want really. The information should be modified! This was my first time using Amazon, I was so disappointed. |
