Just thought I'd give a heads-up on this one. I saw the listing of other CDs people have purchased along with this one. In that list, "Burn the Sun" and ARK S/T are tops on the list. That means there are probably several thousand of you out there who were unpleasantly surprised to find that this band isn't the same as the one who produced the aforementioned 2 CDs.

This band is a Rock/pop outfit from Sweden, very good at what they do, but likely to disappoint fans of Progressive Metal, which is what the *other* ARK plays.

So if you love Jorn Lande, Tore Ostby, and the ARK album "Burn the Sun," DO NOT BUY THIS CD. It's not the same band.

Let's get this out of the way immediately: this album is an absolute MASTERPIECE. This band is the best-kept Swedish secret, but you'd never know they were foreign by listening to them.

When I was in Europe in late Sept I kept seeing the video for "Calleth You Cometh I" and it dug into my skull. Being a DJ always on the lookout for hot material, when I got back to the states I tracked down the Ark's material and was blown away. CYCI is only one of a handful of terrific tracks on "Lust"--imagine the best of 60s, 70s and 80s rock and throw them into a musical.

This band has instantly shot to the top of my favorite bands on the planet and I incorporate as many tunes as I can into my shows. Yes...they are that good.
Here's an song-by-song tracklist--and not a dud in the lot:

1. "Beauty is the Beast"--one of my favs. Love the stop/start bass beat and grunge sound. Would be my 2nd single after CYCI.

2. "Father of a Sun"--after slow start, turns into a great (controversial) rocker. Love the "Hallejulah" shouts.

3. "This Night"--best ballad on the album. This should be an AAA radio song. Absolutely Terrific.

4. "Calleth You, Cometh I". The rock single, it has a terrific build to one of the best choruses in recent memory. A real grower.

5. "A Virgin Like You". Dumb title...but great power ballad.

6. "Tired of Being An Object". Great 60s/glam musical sound. Different sound than the rest, harking back to their debut.

7. "Disease". Slower Depeche Mode-type sound with a nice build. This tune really shows off the lead singers outstanding singing voice.

8. "Vendelay". This shuffling tune is one of my favorites with a distinct Irish flavor. Simply gorgeous.

9. "2000 Lightyears from Darkness". An epic rock "musical" stretching 7 minutes with a 60s/70s vocoder and melotron flavor. A little drawn out but still a nice tune.

10. "The Most Radical Thing To Do". After a slow start and some rather dicey lyrics, this song really kicks in nicely with a great chorus. Nice closer.

They also have a handful of non-album tracks that are worth noting--namely "Racing with the Rabbit" and Swedish remake of "Kolla Kolla".

This is without a doubt, one of the better pop/rock albums I've heard in years (as is their first which I also recommend!). Thanks to [Amazon.com] for listing it. Worth every penny of the import price...BUT American record companies are you listening? We need more of this stuff (this band!) brought over here domestically!!

As stated in regards to "We Are The Ark," this album is fun, pop-inspired Glam-Rock. This is not cerebral stuff you discuss over cofee while reading The New Yorker; this album is fun.

"In Lust We Trust" delves deeper into the world-view of lead singer and songwriter Ola Salo. While Ola gives the listener a taste of himself in "We Are The Ark," he wears a slough of colors (including a very rainbow heart) on his sleeve in "In Lust We Trust."

The songs on "In Lust We Trust" run the gamut from radio-friendly pop gems like "Calleth You, Cometh I," to the quaint reminisce of "Vendelay," to sexually-playful romps like "Tired of Being An Object?" to the pop-epic "2000 Light Years of Darkness."

While the soundscapes were very tight, slick, and full of plastic sheen in "We Are The Ark," listeners will hear a more dirty, playful, and organic soundscape in "In Lust We Trust." Once again, the nods to bygone eras of Glam Rock (Bowie, Bolan, Queen) are more than apparent.

This album is best enjoyed by people who can let go of themselves and enjoy a good tune. Magnificently reccommended.

Yes, maybe it should have been. This album is far from as good as their first album, at least not when you listen to it at home. They have lost some of the sparks from "We Are The Ark", and some songs passes by without you even noticing them. However, even if they're not the best songs ever to listen to in your livingroom, when you see and hear them live the prescence of the band and of course Ola lifts them to a much higher ground. The "father of a son" halleluja-choir builds up an atmosphere grander than you could ever imagine. And after you've have experienced it you can't help loving this album too.

Although I must say that their best album so far is actually their latest, their third (or fourth if you count racing with the rabbits). I know it's not for sale on amazon yet, at least I haven't seen it, but since they're going to perform in USA later this spring, I guess it should come in soon. The sound is very different, more to the synth-pop, but absolutely amazing! Those songs are even real enjoyment in your livingroom.

To conclude. This album is a good one, and a definite must if you like The Ark, even though it's not as good as their first and third. So why not a four? Well, I'm from Sweden so I must be there for our musicians, the good ones at least.

Just a tip for people who are interested in swedish music. If you can find records by these artist I can warmly recommend them; The Knifes, Strip Music, Lustans Lakejer, Silverbullit, Le Sport, Embassy, Suburban Kids with Biblical names, Lo-Fi-Fnk, The Tough Alliance and more....

The best kept secret of Sweden indeed, as said in the above review. I hope this band never gets big in America, since honestly I don't think Americans deserve the Ark. Great glam-influenced pop with a 60's kinda pop sensibility AND one of the best vocalists in the past five years.
I very much enjoy the vinyl edition I have of this album.
I also have to mention that they're incredible live!

In Lust We Trust~ Ark is more great glam-rock from the Ark. Ola Salo is a great singer and his vocal skills are right on the mark. The lyrics are quite well-written and the production is also good. The book-let is quite a hoot and they look like they dressed in the dark on purpose. I certainly hope so?! The photo on the back look like an album cover from the 70's and I think this was intentional on their behalf. But one can never be quite sure with the Ark as they sometimes do things with a winko of the eye as to say that they are only semi serious in their doings. One thing that does annoy me is that it is almost the read the lyrics and to pick pink font was a really terrible idea. Even so I really like this album and I give it 5 well-deserved stars. Well done guys...

Can't believe that, being from Ark-land after all, I haven't really noticed these guys before. Ola Salo sings like a god, besides the fact that he is a wonderful songwriter, really cute and interesting. And of all the albums released to date, In Lust We Trust is very much my favourite. It's impossible to pick a favourite song from the album. "Father of a Son" really amuses me. "Calleth You, Cometh I" seems like a wonderful song from an outdoor live stage, the view of Ola Salo singing this one with feeling and the wind in his hair is extremely vivid in my mind. That song always makes me cry, and the same can be said for "The Most Radical Thing To Do". I like the other songs as well, but I guess those three are the most special to me.

Best glamour music in the world amongst a few other bands.

Try it out if you like happy 80's influenced music.
