I bought mine at Lowes 10 years ago to diagnose dead spots in my lawn. The meter is easy to use, with simple instructions. My yard's PH was 5! Most grass & plants want around 6.5 PH. The instructions come with a list of plants, grasses & trees sowing their required PH. It also tells you how to change your soil PH. The fertility tester shows combination of nitrogen, phosphorous & potash which is enough info for most people. You must wet the soil first, till it is wet 3 inches deep. And insert the probes all the way. Hitting roots and or rocks will change the readings. They recommend putting soil in a jar for the most accurate results. Since I have started a garden I have been using it even more. I went to use it this morning after watering my garden last night with a fertilizer solution at 6.5 PH. [I have a Milwaukee solution PH tester also] The meter needle was stuck, but after 10 years I think I got my moneys worth. I will buy another & recommend them to friends. TwoStrokeBlu

I purchased this item a few months ago and just began TRYING to use it yesterday. After 4 battery changes, same problem - this instrument measure noting. Insert the probs in earth saturated with liquid ammonia - READING 1. Insert probes in earth saturated in vinegar - READING 1. Switch to fertilizer analysis- same result "Too Little" even with probes inserted in 10-10-10 fertilizer.Luster Leaf 1860 Rapitest Electronic Soil Tester

I bought it locally and it didn't work. It felt really cheaply made.I used it in different solutions to test it, the readings seldom changed. |
