As a 3-4 year orchid hobbyist I searched high and low for a moderately priced appropriate media for my precious plants to be potted in. As good quality barks can be quite expensive and can be hard to find in local garden centers, I decided to try Luster Leaf sphagnum moss. My potted orchids do well in this moss and I recently mounted an orchid using this moss as a support.

The size of the bag is deceptive, you receive a rather large amount of moss for the price and it's always clean and good quality. Shipping is quick and reliable and packaging is sturdy for the product.

We grow around 1500 orchids and most of them seem to grow well in spaghnam moss. We found this moss to be very clean and easy to use.

I have purchased 2 orders of this product. I planted some english ivy, impatiens, and salivia in wire pedestal and hanging containers. This was at the beginning of May. Well it is now Memorial Day and there are obvious patches of green and the moss is holding together better. Make sure you keep the product moist and in a humid area of the yard. My deck is covered in shade because of the numerous oak trees, plus the natural humidity have created a great environment for moss. This is a new change for me and I am getting compliments from my neighbors.

Ok quality of moss, but package full of sticks, twigs, and roots from whatever was unfortunate to inhabit said moss during harvesting.

This product makes for a great top layer of substrate in reptile terreriums. I use this product to maintain good humidity levels for my pet ball python. I spray the moss with a water spray bottle once or twice a day depending on room humidity levels. The moss holds moisture well & the price of this product is hard to beat.

The picture shows three bags. You get one very small bag about 15 by 7 or 8 inches. The peat moss is not coarse ground, but long and whole, thus it was very light. I soaked about a fourth of it and it retained its size. As a gardener, using this for some Ginger plants, I am not impressed. It is a lot cheaper to get a bail at a local greenhouse. I will give it three stars, though, as if you are using this for bedding, or you are only needing a little for a few house plants then this is what it is. I feel it is double what it should be at eight, so if it is available locally, try that route first.

It works very well for orchids. As a supplement to potting soil or as a soil-less potting mix I chopped it into smaller pieces using a cuisinart food processor.

FYI: The package says this sphagnum comes from Chile.

Excellent quality and an excellent price through Amazon. Although this long fiber sphagnum moss has many uses, I needed it in particular this time to mount staghorn ferns that I had just divided. i purchased it with another item that I needed so that the shipping was free.
