A scholarly introduction to the Philosophy of Religion, April 24, 2007
This review is from: From Luther to Kierkegaard;: A study in the history of theology
What this book lacks in depth it makes up for in perspective. I found it very useful for tracking the movements in philosophical and theological thought from the 1500's into the mid and late 19th century. For those of you who have lost your mind trying to discover the reasoning behind the Philosophy and Theology of all those in-between Luther and Kierkegaard; you'll find this book to be a nice breath of fresh air.

Brief history of Lutheran theology and thought, January 21, 2007
This review is from: From Luther to Kierkegaard;: A study in the history of theology
A nice little book of then neo-orthodox Missouri Synod History Professor Jaroslav Pelikan. (Pelikan later moved to the ELCA, and then to the Eastern Orthodox church). Its contents include: Luther, Melanchthon and the Confessional Generation, Rationalism, and the Nineteenth Century.
Pelikan has an engaging style, and despite a deep content, is an easy read.
