4.0 out of 5 stars Overall - very satisfied, January 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
PROS: The "Claro" wall plate looks great (we have used the "white", "midnight" and "stainless steel" plates) and once installed looks very clean - no screws, etc. Definitely an upgrade from "standard" grade wall plates - if you notice / care about such relatively small things.

CONS: The fit of the front plate to the backing plate is extremely snug and snapping the cover plate off (without severely bending / breaking it) requires some care and patience (and no long fingernails) Of course you should only need to do this once but if you resort to a flat blade screwdriver to pry the front cover off, be careful not to 'dent' or scratch the plastic base with the screwdriver blade.

NOTES: the front cover snaps onto ("on top of") a matching rear plate (that is permanently attached to the wall) but the front plate does not cover / enclose the rear plate around the edges. i.e. you can still see the rear plate edges under the cover plate edges after everything is installed. At first I was disappointed in this arrangement. I had not seen one "live" before ordering on-line and expected the cover plate to 'wrap around' the base plate and meet the wall. But after a day or two, I now like the look 'as is'. Both the cover plate and backing plate are the same color and thickness with a small gap between them so you get a subtle two-tier 'stacked pancakes' look from the side.

OVERALL: very satisfied

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have For Lutron Switches, January 24, 2011
This single gang (only one light switch in the electrical box) face plate is a must if you are installing Lutron switches, pretty much no other plate will work with these switches.

This wallplate is a two part deal. The instructions show placing your finger nails between the two pieces at the top of the wallplate and then prying them apart. The back plate is fairly soft plastic that screws into the Lutron switch. Painfully, Lutron chose to use countersunk Philips head screws for this purpose. Just about everything electrical or light switch is a flat blade screw. There is an open slot so you can still screw or unscrew the switch itself (the switch screws are included with the switch).

Once the baseplate is attached to the switch, the final dress cover snaps on.

The plastic looks very nice. The effect is very clean, not seeing a screw to hold the wallplate in place.

January 29, 2012 Update: My apologies, yes you can use any Decora rectangular cover plates with the Lutron line of switches. These happen to be two piece covers that have no screws exposed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, January 27, 2012

The product worked well and I have no complaints. It's packaging was a bit much and they should simplify it for the good of the environment.

Almost did not buy these based upon a few of the negative reviews, but am SO glad that I did! They are fabulous and look awesome compared to the covers that show the screws. I plan to order more and complete my whole house with them. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great screwless cover plate, January 9, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought these to continue converting all my plates to screwless. Once you start you will do all visible plates as the screwed ones look horrible after using these. I like the Lutron design a lot more than the other brand. I shows the two pieces on the sides, but that makes it much easier to snap on and off, and they mount to the switches and sockets more easily and securely. Warning, it does seem they might break when you pull them off, but they don't. They are solid and flexible.
