Review

I was hoping that Lux in Shadow would live up to Regina in the Sun. Ms. Alexander did not disappoint me and even surpassed book one." -Joyfully Recommended by Joyfully Reviewed

"Once again R.G. Alexander continues the journey to the dark sensual world of the Children of the Goddess continuing to dazzle the reader with the magical plot of danger, adventure, passion, love and destiny. The author as the ability to write with such an intense edge that she pulls the reader into each scene holding them hostage until the final page of the story has been read...Lux in Shadow showcases the author's talent as a very gifted storyteller!" -5 hearts The Romance Studio

R.G. Alexander's 'Children of the Goddess' series just gets better with the second book, "Lux in Shadow". A quick warning that THIS book IS erotica and involves a menage of M/F/M. There are also scenes of M/M, M/M/F, and M/F including the use of toys, light bondage, a hot spanking, and sex in all the orifices I can think of. All of this is done well (and smoking hot) and rolled into the story of a vamp, a were, and a werewoman-with-special-powers-who-can't-change-forms. Whew!

Lux is happy for his brother, Zander, and his new grathia (lifemate). But he just can't forget how he failed to protect his lover from the recent violence. And now he's plagued with desire for the handsome werewolf Alpha, Arygon, who he wants but feels he must resist to punish himself. Exacerbating the situation is their mission to find the missing sister of the man who almost killed them. According to their seer, this woman must be protected. It only takes one glimpse of the woman they're looking for and both males are hooked. But each will have their own internal demons to fight before they can be true mates.

There's so much more going on, but I don't want to give it all away! Suffice to say this series has caught my attention in a big way and now my quandry is: Do I wait for the print version of book 3 "Twilight Guardian" or do I give into the lure of quick satisfaction and buy the ebook that's already available? Decisions, decisions. This series is one I don't confuse with any other paranormal or vamps and weres out there because it has enough differences to stand out in my memory. The first book was a twosome, this one is a threesome--but both books are ultimately about love, finding that special someone/s, and accepting their strengths and weaknesses as well as your own. All this and hot sex too.

Lux Sariel has been tormented by guilt in the five months since his lover was slain by the old and feared enemy, Les Loups De L'Ombre, the Shadow Wolves. It has changed the once easy going and openly sexual Trueblood healer, making him a male of control and self denial. On a quest to find the protected sister of the now dead Shadow Wolf leader Grey Wolf with the gorgeous and sexually aggressive Dydarren werewolf pack Alpha Arygon, the fruitless search and sleepless, nightmare-filled nights are getting to him. And so is Arygon.

Arygon Dydarren knows he is anathema to his people, a male who seeks sexual companionship from other males, but ever since he first set eyes on Lux Sariel, he's had hope. The Goddess would not have given him a male mate if She thought he was worthless. Lux may be stubborn as all hell, but Arygon is sticking by him, putting himself right in his face until the vampire sees what's right in front of him. And when he catches scent of the female werewolf they'd been sent to retrieve, and he and Lux finally see the ethereal beauty for the first time, Arygon realizes something that Lux is too guilt-laden to see or sense for himself. Lux Sariel doesn't just have one mate...he's got two.

Mother Goddess.

She is Antara, the bogeyman of her people, the destroyer. Since she was a child, Sylvain has been kept hidden, kept safe, but it has been a safety that's limited her contact with the outside world and ostracized her from her people. She is the werewolf who cannot change shape, the one who stands in the space between, and according to the true legends, and against all male superstition, she is not to destroy, but to save her people. And her first scent of Lux Sariel tells her two things, the prophecy has begun...and Lux is her mate.

Book 2 in the Children of the Goddess series- and I imagine you will either love it or hate it. It is by far the most sexual book I have ever read. Contains threesomes, hetero and homosexual sex. For me- this was the HOTTEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ.

So warned, you can try it out yourself and see how you feel.

In terms of the series, it pushes the storyline along nicely. The romance was a tricky balance of a threesome becoming mated and I felt it handled it well. By the end of the book all three individuals were dedicated to each other and their three-way bond.

The story line was really a backdrop for the lust and romance, but even so, there was a lot going on and a lot at stake. It held together just fine. The lust was balanced nicely against some deeper emotional connections. All three characters- Lux, Arygon, and Sylvain stood as their own individuals and they worked well together. As you got to know each of them, you were just as drawn as they were to each other.

Bottom line though- either you want that kind of reading experience or you don't. I loved it. Not only the sex, but the whole reality created where the balance between vampire, were and human relations are tenuous... It's a ton of fun. I got to the end and wanted to do it all over again! Hopefully you will too.

"Lux In Shadow" by R.G. Alexander is the second in her sensual `Children of the Goddess' series. Lux Sariel is still recovering from the horrendous loss of his lover and unwilling to accept the advances of the formerly reviled Arygon Dydarren who was Alpha of a werewolf pack. Both males are interested in Sylvain, sister of the vanquished Shadow Wolf alpha (Grey). Sylvain has an uncanny role to play in the future of both the vampires and weres but Lux and Arygon are more concerned about claiming their mate. Sylvain's role as Antara places her in danger from all of the other Weres who are determined to end her life but she may be the catalyst to alter interactions between humans, weres and vampires forever. Lux must learn to allow himself to love again, Arygon must find those who accept him for who he is and Sylvain must find the strength to fulfill her destiny.

Another steamy addition to a wonderfully erotic series featuring a complex intermingling of vampire and werewolf societies interacting with humans. Pack taboos and the requisite power struggles are intermixed with folklore and the age-old conflict between seemingly powerless females and headstrong males who subscribe to the `might makes right' theory. Intriguing secondary characters provide connections to other tales as the ongoing struggle between good and evil continues to play out. An entertaining read.
