5.0 out of 5 stars Talking Clock
The Talking Clock does everything it's supposed to do, and the vendor I bought it from shipped it right away...I use it when I am flying model airplanes to let me know how long I have been up flying, so I can have enough battery power to land safely.

1.0 out of 5 stars LUX TT100 don't bother purchasing if you want a long lasting timer
I've purchased this timer a couple of times to use in our classrooms. They work fine for about 6-8 weeks, then they simply stop working. We've tried changing the batteries and pressing the reset button and nothing has worked. These are a bit too expensive to only work for 6-8 weeks. The unfortunate part is that I purchased two of these at the same time and I can't return...

4.0 out of 5 stars Convenient Talking Timer, June 1, 2011

This review is from: Lux TT100 Talking Clock and Timer, Grey (Kitchen)
While this is a convenient talking timer, there are several design flaws that may be hard to live with for some purchasers. Just setting the number of minutes to count down is a task; as an example if I want 50 minutes, I have to press the minute button 50 times! Why they couldn't have included a number keypad is beyond me... even as a visually impaired person, I can easily use a number keypad. It would be a lot easier to enter a 5 and three 0's to get 50:00 minutes.

Several other reviewers have mentioned the annoying countdown. While I find this helpful, I would find it more helpful to have a switch for verbose vs minimal. The worste part is the last minute when the countdown starts announcing every ten seconds, and the final ten seconds as a 10-1 coundtdown as if whatever I am timing is ready to rocket to the moon! My way around this is to add one minute, and when I hear the one minute announcement, I stop the darn countdown.

Finally, the unit seems pretty sturdy, my fiance knocked it off the counter into the dog's drinking water, and after drying out it worked fine.

I bought and use this item to time the flights of my radio controlled airplanes.. While flying RC airplanes your full attention as well as both hands are occupied with the task at hand.. The timer lets me know how long I've been flying and how long I have to go before I land the plane.. Its like a talking fuel gauge.. Even out in the open with lots of noise around I can still hear the timer in my shirt pocket clearly.
Works great for what I use it for.

We've tried changing the batteries and pressing the reset button and nothing has worked. These are a bit too expensive to only work for 6-8 weeks. The unfortunate part is that I purchased two of these at the same time and I can't return even the unopened one because I am beyond my return window. I tried searching the LUX company website--It's a very limited site and the only real information available (FAQs) is regarding thermostats. There's no mention at all of this talking timer anywhere on the website! This is very frustrating and I would NOT recommend this product to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review of Amazon Talking Timer., September 27, 2010

This timer is a replacement for a timer left out in the rain. The features are similar to the original. With several activities ongoing around the kitchen the voice reminder makes this unit necessary to complete various types of tasks. The ability to count up or down makes the timer more useful. At advancing ages these types of devices make our kitchen run much more smoothly.
