Book Description

September 16, 2008 Bradt Travel Guide

This new Bradt guide will be the first English-language guidebook to focus exclusively on the world’s only Grand Duchy. This micro-state is home to the rolling forests of the Ardennes, hill-top medieval castles, a string of museums, two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and one of Europe’s smallest wine-growing regions. With first-class accommodation and more Michelin-starred restaurants per capita than anywhere else on earth, this is tourism at its finest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the BEST book on travel in Luxembourg!, May 8, 2009
This review is from: Luxembourg (Bradt Travel Guide) (Paperback)
This travel book became available at the perfect time for my husband and me. We just spent five days driving around Luxembourg enjoying our days so much more because of Tim's book. There's just not that much written about this beautiful little country and this book is a real treasure! Organized into areas of the country and then by town, it's a very easy read. Because part of my job is purchasing travel books for a high school library, I KNOW well written travel books! If you are going to Luxembourg, THIS is the book to buy. Especially helpful are the well-detailed descriptions for hotels and restaurants and the town maps are also quite helpful. The chair lift in Vianden, the phenomenal "Family of Man" photo exhibit in Clervaux, the Moselle Wine region, the castles - we were able to plan out our entire trip in much more detail and see all these things with the help of Tim Skelton's Luxembourg. And the book saved us travel time AND money. Invaluable!

5.0 out of 5 stars The book is the best for the trip available., August 31, 2011

I wanted to visit the Grand Duche of Luxembourg again. Last time was in 1961. The book was truely helpful. It helped you get around using the trains and buses. You can buy a 4 euro card on the bus for a day and travel all over the place for four Euros. If you buy a 10 Euro Luxembourg Club Card, you get admission to General Patton's Museum, the Art Museums and Catacombs and other sites for free too. It is a great deal. I stayed at a Cottage room in Heiderscheid at Fox Den Camping {FUUSSEKAUL) Ground for a little over 40 Euros a day for the two of us, as it was in late August and not high season. The Cottage Apartment had two bathrooms with each having a shower, central water heating,a kitchen,

walking distance to a good restaurent, grocery store, camping supplies and buses. From there I learned to take one of the 4 buses to Ettelbruch and said a silent thank you to General Patton. Although he was an American General, he wanted to be buried there with his men and his family agreed. There is a Train Station there in Ettelbruch and you can travel to the City Of Luxembourg and see it and learn some of its past which goes back to Roman times. The place was called the Gibralter of the North. The book also told you which buses to take and it is sure nice not to have to drive. You won't go wrong with this book. I just wanted a guide. Not a 3 volume History of the country.
