1.0 out of 5 stars Looks nice...but that is all!
As a seasoned veteran of the popular series, this is by far the worse incarnation. Of course the graphics are nice, but the gameplay itself is not fun. Stick with the original Luxor or Luxor:Amun rising. If you MUST buy it, wait for the price to drop to at least 10$.

After ZUMA's success, a number of clones appeared - but the LUXOR series is the one that actually improved on some aspects of the concept. As the series progressed, LUXOR games became more and more self-reliant. With LUXOR 4 the franchise flexes its own muscles.

A series of colored balls (with the number of different colors increasing every few levels) gets pushed and you have to match them in sets of three or more in order to remove them - and prevent them from reaching the end zone. Instead of having the "shooter" in the center, it is located at the bottom and it slides left and right. This makes for some quite difficult shots (especially when obstructed by the advancing row of balls) and raises the difficulty of the game.
On the other hand, the power-ups are more powerful, at the end of every round a number of coins and gems drop and "catching" them add lives to your paddle. It seems pretty straight-forward yet it can become highly...addictive!

Compared to the previous installment of the series, LUXOR 4 is graphically even more impressive, enriched as to the dropping bonuses (and...penalties) - yet it will seem somewhat easier to seasoned players of the series; nevertheless, it will fulfill the fans craving for more pharaohnic fun!

This is an example of what has come to be known as Casual Gaming: small, resource-light games that are fun for the whole family.
It would be a good idea to download the 60-min trial version from a casual games site, such as REFLEXIVE (you can Google it), and decide for yourself whether this is indeed your cup of tea.
It wouldn't hurt to wait for the price to drop either: most casual games sell for no more than $10.

RECOMMENDED!

This is a fun game once you work out all the bugs with it. Retail box versions have a patch that you can download but you must delete any previous profiles if you have tried the trial version off the internet. Then when all is said and done the game will stall unless you turn down the accleration on your sound card. Yes that is right, your sound card....not the graphics card. If you still need help you can go to [...] and look for the discussions on this game. Good Luck

This is a great Luxor game. The only problem I had was that it kept freezing. But there is a patch for that. Once the patch was installed there have been no further problems.

This game is very similar to Zuma. Note: the retail version (as sold by amazon) has a software glitch. This glitch causes the game to freeze at certain levels. One needs to visit the mumbo jumbo website and follow the link to download the patch to fix the glitch. Once installed, the game works great. plenty replayability and challenges.

Both adults and children find this game addictive. I would not recommend it for children under nine or so. It's more age appropriate for pre-teens who are beginning to get interested in Egyptology.
