Great Brush Set, March 5, 2011
This review is from: Luxury Comprehensive 24 Piece Antibacterial Makeup Brush Set - Studio Line (Misc.)
Received this brush set as a birthday present, and I really like it. Did some research before selecting this brand, and so far they have been exactly as expected.
Took them on a business trip where I was out of town for a week, and was very glad to have them. The antibacterial coating makes them lower maintenance; requiring less washing. The roll-up pouch made transporting them a breeze.
There are 24 brushes in this set. The Maestro set was tempting, but did not offer the variety and styles I knew I would use. The price comes to about $5-$6 per brush, compared to others that run $20 to $50+ per brush. I own some of these other high end brushes, and right now can't see why I'd want to spend that much money when I've found these.
Brushes I use every day are:
#990S Angled Face - LOVE! The brush is large, and reminds me of a paintbrush. When I saw it, I thought I'd never use it... it is now my all time favorite. Great tool for achieving the 5-10 minute face; try it with bronzer on face and neck. Super fast, great shape.
#980S Natural Powder - use for all over powder.
#948S Foundation - great brush, use with primer, foundation, and smoothing concealer.
#942S Slanted Contour - my go to blush brush.
#936S Concealer - LOVE. Great for blending, putting product on and keeping it on. Doesn't smear product or remove it, where some brushes do. Great shape and size.
#785S Tapered Blending- a makeup artist used this type of brush to apply powder under the eye to set concealer; this brush works just as well for me and it didn't cost $25+.
#769S Angled Contour - LOVE and actually prefer to some of the other high end options. The size and shape of the angle is perfect for fast and flawless application.
#766S Angled Shadow - great, and comparable to a high end brush I own that cost 3-4 times more.
#763S Small Angle - great
#722S Comb/Brow - works great
#710S Eye Liner - works great
The other brushes I've used and liked, just don't need everyday:
#964S AP Blusher, #945S Contour,#780S Pencil, #777S Shadow, #772S Small Shader, #755S Smudge, #733S Lash, #555U Retractable Lip.
The rest of the brushes I haven't tried yet.
Couple things:
* On YouTube you'll find product reviews and demos for these brushes and others as well.
* Remember these brushes are treated with something to make them antibacterial and this coating won't last forever. I was told that the coating could last about 50 washes, so after that consider using an antibacterial wash.
* Also, the manufacturer recommends using gentle soap for cleaning, as the harsher soaps and brush cleaners will take off the antibacterial coating.
* Even after the first wash these brushes did shed a little, but no more than many other brushes (including my high end ones). So for the price I'm okay with that.
* Since I just got these, I cannot say how long they will last but so far they're great.
