Editorial Reviews

Discover the world’s most luxurious trains and relive a bygone era, when the journey itself was the most significant part of the experience; rather than simply getting there. A journey where the passenger becomes a real traveler and is able to experience the much more gracious way of travel - in a living recreation of the golden age of rail.

The Blue Train first ran in 1946 but, like South Africa itself, has had to change and make the journey into the modern world. All the best elements have been retained however; the standard of accommodation and service, like the breathtaking and varied scenery, are unsurpassed anywhere in the world. today as ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great reminiscenses, great quality, January 9, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Luxury Trains of the World: The Blue Train of South Africa (DVD)
Opening teaser has no narrative and quality wasn't great. But it soon kicks into the program and that was FABULOUS. Really well put together.

The Jo'burg to Cape Town segment was much better, more detailed vs. Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. This segment was still v.enjoyable.

We've seen some of the area and traveled on Rovos Rail, so many fond memories. Sensational value given the price for anyone interested in vacationing in South Africa (would highly recommend, and I am not a SA or work for any tourist co. etc.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Video, March 20, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Luxury Trains of the World: The Blue Train of South Africa (DVD)
This DVD on the Blue Train was really great. The narration was great, it gave a feeling of what it is like to travel on the train, and it also showed some behind the scenes footage of the Blue Train being cleaned and prepared for its next journey. The video also included some footage of some beautiful South African towns and Cities including Pretoria and Cape Town.
