5.0 out of 5 stars Real Rituals Set to Musick, March 9, 2007
By
This review is from: Lvx (Audio CD)
THIS CD IS AMAZING! It's a shame that there are "magick snobs" who will knock anything that isn't exactly as they are taught. I have been a practitioner of GD Magick for 20+ years. Everybody has their own way of pronouncing this archaic language. None and all are right because we don't have anybody alive today that speaks these languages fluently (although many claim to). The cd has a dark "gothy" edge to it, but actually everything on it is timed perfectly to do each ritual. There is also a beautifully illustrated booklet with reproductions from the original Israel Regardie 4-Volume Set of Golden Dawn rituals. If you are a beginner, this cd is a perfect starting point. If you are a seasoned Magickian, then you will enjoy hearing people do the rituals in a legitimate fashion (although they might be somewhat different than you do them). Let's face it, none of us have been schooled by Westcott. To have all of these rituals on one cd set to a beautiful musick, is a joy that I never thought I would see in my lifetime. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Christian Thought Just Don't Belong, August 9, 2001

My favorite verse of the first song, "The Temple" : 'A.E. Waite came on too strong...Christian thought just don't belong'! This is the only song which isn't a Golden Dawn ritual put to music. I guess they do their rituals a little different in England, as these "songs" seem to be adaptations which are a little bit different than the way I learned them, but the basic forms are here. The music is rather bland and the "vocalist(s)" would probably be all right in a Goth band, but pretty much suck in their ritual leadings. I think a better approach would have been to have one section of just instrumental music and one in which the rituals are done without the music. In the format presented by this CD, you probably would be better off buying Donald Michael Kraig's "Modern Magick" and put on a Sister's of Mercy album in the background whilst performing the various rituals. The best part of the album is the quote from Israel Regardie: "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." There...I just saved you about 18-20 bucks.

1.0 out of 5 stars BLECH, August 12, 2001

Disappointing. I was hoping for a CD, the contents of which would be actual ritual, etc. Instead, I received something that appears to be a cross between an Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical and a David Bowie song.

I do not recommend it.
