Book Description

Lycentia... the City of Light... the city where finance, friendship and faith are being blended together to produce what could be a fabulous future for all Betrovians.

Patrik, the recalcitrant innkeeper and Galena, his younger daughter, load up the wagon, lock up The Lonely Fox Inn and head east for Lycentia. The goal? To hand-deliver Harrak's scrolls, the ones Patrik discovered in a musty cave, to Oliver III, the Netherene High Priest. The problem? The scrolls are not what Patrik thinks they are! But how, if at all, can Patrik discover the truth before it's too late?

Who was this Harrak, the supposed author of these infamous scrolls? And why are the Lycentian Netherenes striving to eradicate Harrak's writings? Even to the point of killing those who express faith in those writings? Teophelus, the neophyte priest, is in love with both his calling and Patrik's daughter Galena: so just what are his motives for helping Patrik understand the true meanings hidden within those scrolls?

Edelin, the conniving, self-serving but lonely thief, nearly becomes entangled in a skirmish between Betrovian militiamen and Haarigoian raiders. He manages to elude the carnage and finds refuge in a village on the edge of the untamed Plains of Dreut. But not long after arriving there, he disappears into the night after stealing what may be the most-valuable piece of jewelry he has ever possessed. But might this bauble he now possesses lead Edelin into a future that no one would ever wish for?

Tamara is no longer the elder daughter of an innkeeper: she is now the wife of the King of Betrovia! She has the entire city of Lycentia at her beck and call. But why isn't she happy? Isn't this what she has always dreamed of? What, if anything, can bring her the happiness she desperately desires?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Plot and Characters September 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The second book of this series is a great follow-up to the first. The characters remain rich and deep. The plot continues to move along at a pace that is not too slow, but also allows time for detailed scenarios that enhance the reading experience. I was given the privilege of reading the beta copy and this final product has turned out even better than anticipated. I recommend Lycenta: Harrack's Scrolls with both thumbs up as a good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars My son's review April 30, 2013
By Cynthia
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This review is from my 15-year-old son who read this book for his home school required reading: "Lycentia is a sequal to Betrovia by Dave King. In the book Patrik(the main character) is trying to deliver some old scrolls that he found to the High Priest of Lycentia, Oliver III. Many things happen during his quest to deliver the scrolls, and none of it got in his way from delivering them.

Although it was really slow at first, it gets really good towaards the middle of the book.
I recomend it to anyone who read the fist book and loves fantasy"

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than the first BUT...... April 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
It is difficult to effectively review this trilogy. Book two has explained what happened in book one and struggled along with the story. I have erased three attempts to review this book because I don't want to discourage anyone. I think I will cut my losses and move on to my next read. Sorry if this doesn't help the potential readers. Hope you all enjoy it! Best of luck Dave, I'll look in on you with the next series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lycentia a well written novel October 31, 2012
Format:Paperback
I enjoyed book one, Betrovia, and Lycentia is even better. Here you begin to get a much clearer understanding of the mysterious scrolls and of the risks to the scroll bearers. This volume contains more action in the adventure and certainly leaves you with an anticipation of how volume three will be presented. Very glad I read Lycentia and looking forward to book three next spring.
