4.0 out of 5 stars Very retro 80s electro track November 30, 2006
Format:Audio CD
Lasgo's awesome second CD "Far Away" delivers plenty of throwbacks to 80s synth sounds, and "Lying", while not one of my favorite tracks from the CD, delivers. And actually, this CD single does not contain the original mix at all. The "radio edit" is an edif of the "extended remix", not an edit of the original CD mix. And I must say, I like the radio edit and extended remix better than the original CD version, which had a very annoying synth riff that has been changed on this mix. It sounds much more like a synth line you'd hear on a dance track by a goth synth band from the late 80s (usually one who was trying to sound like Depeche Mode but always ended up sounding more commercial). Peter Luts & G-Bric mix gives us a much more dark and experimental bleeps and blips electro mix that quickly becomes annoying and totally loses the pop sensibilities. And finally, the Dave McCullen mix, well, it's more like a snyth house dub, with very few vocals, which is problematic since it's the LONGEST version. Over 7 minutes without much vocal. The synths on this one remind me of something you would have heard on the Human League "Dare" CD, or actually, the "love and dancing" CD since it follows that formula of leaving out most of the vocal.

For collectors of Lasgo and retro 80s electro house, this one is worth getting for the remix, and you should definitely get the entire "Far Away" CD.
