Product Description
The Lying Promise is controversial and confrontational. It is a book exposing shocking scriptural distortions disseminated by Christianity's biggest names. In 416 pages the author confronts celebrated, Christian leaders regarding little-known departures from orthodoxy. Dr. Malcolm L. Lavender wrote, "Daniel LaLond Jr. blows the trumpet in Zion, warning God’s people!" Though The Lying Promise is scholarly it is written in an engaging, conversational style.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very challenging changed my life!!, March 8, 2008
By Betty Gregory "Betty" (Fox River Grove, IL) - See all my reviews
I have been a christian for many years and always enjoyed Tony Evans and Chuck Swindoll - wow were my eyes opened to truth. I was totally shocked at their teaching and even more shocked at the misleadings these teachers have been teaching to the church and people abroad! It saddens me that many people swallow up everything they read and believe it as truth. Thank you for stepping outside the realm of "todays biblical teaching" and exposing truth to us!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for sincere truth seekers, October 24, 2008
By S W Crady (Illinois) - See all my reviews
At first you might not believe what you are reading, but read on... The most well known & trusted teachers of modern Christianity have gotten it wrong on important Bible doctrines. It's not difficult to see how these errant teachings have watered "The Gospel" down to the "other" gospel that's swept through the church in America. For most Christians it's difficult to accept that Chuck Swindoll, Tony Evans, or Irwin Lutzer could actually teach something that doesn't line up with The Bible. However, after reading and studying this book, all doubt will be removed. Lalond accurately and systematically exposes the errors of these three well known teachers, using excerpts from their own writings. You will be very surprised and alarmed by what you read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved FROM sin rather than IN it., May 29, 2008
I was surprised by this book. Surprised because I found that what I hear on the radio from popular teachers is not the whole story. The Lying Promise plainly exposed contradictions on basic Christian doctrine within the teachings of modern Christianity. We often hear Drs. Evans, Lutzer or Swindoll (and a host of others) talking about sin, holiness or repentance, but the whole of their teaching (as shown in The Lying Promise) gives licence to sin and mocks biblical repentance rather than actually upholding scriptural principles-issues I was unaware of prior to deeper study.

The Lying Promise is well studied, thoroughly documented (800+ footnotes), and convincingly written. The book was a challenging read, but well worth the effort. I recommend The Lying Promise to any who are interested in deeper examinations of Grace, The Gospel, sin, law and biblical salvation. The book introduced me to a life changing concept...that Jesus saves FROM sin rather than IN it.
