J.P. Beaumont of Seattle Homicide is assigned the grim task of finding out who killed the husband of an old high school flame. Despite his feelings about the case, Beaumont sorts through the dead man's life and finds himself dealing with arson, Nazi hunters, kidnappings, stolen gold and another murder. He does this with a new partner, Sue Daniels, a single mother of a teenage son who makes a better homicide detective than she does a mother. Full of spicy nooks and crannies, this is the twelfth in the series.
