Granted, Don Dokken has/had his good points. But by the time this CD (and band, for that matter) hit the scene, Dokken as a force in the music industry was well on its way to the "bargain bin". A shame, really. BUT, this unpretenteous CD by guitar wizard George Lynch (without whom Dokken would still be in basement bars in Germany) and company is a well crafted collection of rock tunes that will floor you! Too bad it came at a time when true rock n roll (well-crafted arrangements, killing guitar solos, and singers who can sing in key and not just grunt and scream) was giving into talentless grunge acts. This disc is true George Lynch and what Dokken may have sounded like under better circumstances. The best track is the ballad "Dream Until Tomorrow", featuring both a creative and haunting solo, as well as a cover of Queen's "Tie Your Mother Down". A song that makes one realize how limiting Dokken was for Lynch is "I Want It", with Lynch's signature runs all over a great rock beat! Well worth buying for any true rock fan

It takes a few listens through to get the full effect. George and the boys are absolutely slammin each track. At times I felt that Oni Logan could have done a better job on a few tracks but, Mason can rip it up pretty good. Excellent production, as always, let's a huge wall of sound come through. To get the complete effect, listen with a great pair of headphones and give the volume the gas. Lynch is amazing!

After a small personnel shift by bringing Robert Mason in on vocals Lynch Mob delivered a fine follow up to their debut album 'Wicked Sensation'. This time boasting more than twiddly guitar bits and big choruses 'Lynch Mob' has fabulously lush songs which are complemented by Lynch's most tasteful guitar work to date. This CD has sympathetic production from Keith Olsen (who I believe did a lot of albums with Journey) allowing everybody to shine through the mix with out making the band sound airbrushed. This CD can still rock but just not at the expense of light and shade something missing on the band's previous release. Robert Mason has much more depth and feel in his vocals than his predecessor, take for example 'Dream Until Tomorrow' which is awesome in his delivery and capped off superbly by the most unique guitar work you'll here this side of forever. 'Cold Is The Heart' is another masterpiece of atmospheric delights, almost Eastern in delivery and featuring a very catchy chorus to boot. There is a cover of Queen's 'Tie Your Mother Down' on offer here which is okay, but just a little disappointing in its inclusion considering the strength of the band's own material here. 'Heaven is Waiting' is perhaps the most Dokken sounding track here being class eighties rock with interesting key changes and an upbeat tempo. 'I Want It' and 'No Good' are both hard rockers, in my opinion a little too hard edged for a band that obviously has so much more to say musically speaking. The excellent 'When Darkness Calls' is a titanic epic so sexy you'll need a cigarette afterwards guaranteed. The closer of 'The Secret' deals with child abuse and is, despite the somber lyrical content, the true highlight of this release.Read more ›

Lynch Mob's self-titled second full-length album was released in 1992. There are ten tracks. The material is in a straightforward hard rock musical direction. Throughout, the songwriting is satisfying, the musicianship is tight, and the sound quality is good. Robert Mason does well with the singing, and George Lynch's guitar playing does not disappoint. Guest vocalist Glenn Hughes provides additional background vocals. The band performs a cover of the Queen composition "Tie Your Mother Down." Certain cuts contain minimal keyboard and brass instrumentation. Some of the songs I like are "Tangled in the Web," the power ballad "Dream Until Tomorrow," and "Cold Is the Heart." The CD booklet sports interesting drawings. The CD booklet's backcover displays a color photo of the group. The disc is almost 48 minutes. This album is solid.

All of us Rockers know who the Legendary George Lynch. He's way up at the Top of the most shredding Guitar Slingers EVER. And with Mick Brown, Anthony Esposito and one of the best singers I know of, Robert Mason. George's Beautiful melodic guitar with Robert Mason's vocals, great lyrics and excellent composing of it make this one of the very very best I have EVER heard. Every song floods my mind with some of the best memories I have. Wild partying, Hard riding with my Brothers, (On Harleys of course)Hard drinking and a couple of the most Beautiful Women (2) I have ever loved. I love the way this LP brings me back to when I was on top of the world. I want to Thank George for ALWAYS being right at the Top of my list of the most incredible Guitarists, with Jimmy Hendrix, and very few others. But THIS is about George and that Fantastic band on the Lynch Mob 1992 LP. I also must add that Robert Mason is at the top of my favorite singers list. I am now purchasing this CD for the third time. The first two were stolen. One from my car, the other from my home by some unstable, freak of a woman who knew it would really piss me off.It did! Thank you Lynch Mob. Cannot wait to hear it again for days, weeks.....years to come. Incredible!
