About the Author

LYNN SALVATORI PALM Lynn is considered one of the world’s foremost and respected horsemen. Her Palm Partnership Training champions the partnership between horse and rider, hence one of her sayings, “Improve the rider, improve the horse.”Her approach to head-to-toe horsemanship does just that, and is one she teaches through her schools at her facilities in Bessemer,Michigan, and Ocala, Florida, as well as at clinics around the world. Lynn’s methods have proven successful for her both as a trainer and a teacher. Her list of accomplishments include being named American Quarter Horse Association Female Equestrian of the Year by the Women's Athletic Association; a record four AQHA Superhorse Wins, including two with the famous stallion, Rugged Lark; and over 34 AQHA World and Reserve World Champions. She’s been invited to give “Bridleless Dressage” exhibitions throughout the United States at such prestigious events as the National Horse Show, the Washington International Horse Show, the International World Cup, and the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2003, she earned the 2003 Equine Affaire Exceptional Equestrian Educator Award. Lynn is a regular commentator on RFD-TV and Horse TV, and is a regular contributor to many equine publications, such as Horse & Rider and Dressage Today. From porch swing to saddle...this is an excellent up-to-date modern western horsemanship handbook. Reading the lessons in the book transformed my riding position to more efficient and effective immediately! The methodical approach, step by step lessons, good position vs. poor position photos and straight-forward advice is clear, sharp and fun to read - for any age. As an equestrian and a riding instructor I found this book to be of profound value, one that I will read and refer to again and again. Lynn is not only a lifetime professional, she's truly an educator.

Although this was a college textbook that I was required to purchase, I always find myself looking back to it as a reference. This is a wonderful read and it's great to try out the exercises, even if you're NOT on horseback. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any level rider.
