Although this is probably the most expensive product of its kind in this size, it is WORTH EVERY PENNY. I have owned a model of the turn-x incubator for over 30yrs - it has been improved since it was first offered by Marsh Farms, then Lyon mfg but the basics are the same. Although it appears to be primarily an educational tool because it is transparent, it is also a state-of-the-art scientific instrument. It functions within a fraction of a degree and a few percent relative humidity. Hatch rates approach 100% of fertile eggs set. Works just as well with a few eggs as it does at capacity. The high initial investment cost is easily justified because it quickly will pay for the price difference due to the higher number of live chicks obtained. Turning of the eggs is reliable for many sizes and shapes. Every school should have one for their biology department - the clear glass dome offers an unobstructed view from all sides. The humidity calculations are easy, but can be used as a learning experience alone. The fact that it can also be used without the base sitting on a few blocks of wood as a brooder that the chicks can come and go from underneath makes it even more valuable. It is very easy to clean and disinfect. Adjustments in humidity and incubation temperature are all made without disturbing incubating eggs.

This incubator gave us 100 percent hatch rates with our first incubation experience! It held the temperature beautifully once we got it right and the humidity was pretty steady as well. The turner is a great design, too.
I would recommend this incubator to anyone who wants to start breeding poultry.
