"A Den of Lyons", April 13, 2009
This review is from: The Lyon's Den (Shelton Heights Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
The Lyon's Den or the "Den of Lyons" is a very interesting read. This book represents the third series in the "infamous" Shelton Heights myth. If you have been following along ("In Greene Pastures" - series one and "The Battle of Jericho" - series two), then you know all about the housing development of Shelton Heights, where it is believed that Mr. Heights' ghost taunts this community where strange and unexplainable things occur. In "The Lyon's Den" Stuart Lyons is a police officer who is receiving threatenting letters and being harrassed by a Dr. A.H. Satan. The question is who is doing this - the ghost, one of his past arrestees seeking revenge or could it be a close friend or colleague (hmmmm, thus creating a Den of Lyons) and why? However, the plot thickens when Stuart signs up with a "Christian" on-line dating service and meets Candice. Is she all that she portrays? There are a lot of pieces to this puzzle and putting them together will take the "wisdom" of God.
This story is very engaging. The reason for my "four star" rating is because of the ending. It was explosive and I did not see it coming. Partly because there was not a lot of information given prior to its revelation. I was shocked and felt a bit let down. HOWEVER, Kendra continues to do her thing - bringing you into her literary world. Once again, she demonstrated the power of prayer and what it means to seek Him in all things.
Enjoy!

(RAW Rating: 3.5) - Pray Until Something Happens, May 3, 2009
This review is from: The Lyon's Den (Shelton Heights Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
In the Shelton Heights community, strange and unexplainable things are happening. These incidences are being blamed on the ghost of old man Shelton Heights. As the book begins, we're drawn into the constant threats made to police lieutenant, Stuart Lyons. The stalker is sending him threatening letters signed DR. AH SATAN. Believing this is a kid playing games, Stuart doesn't feel too threatened, until the stalker gets bolder and too close for comfort. Speculations are plentiful; is this the work of a kid, old man Heights's ghost, or someone who Stuart sent to prison?
Before his stable life is turned upside down, Stuart signs up on a Christian online dating website. He chats daily with Candice Powell developing a special interest in her. They agree to meet for the first time, and when they see each other, there is an immediate attraction. Although Candice wasn't completely honest in her online profile, Stuart felt comfortable giving her his most precious gift. But will honesty be one of Candice's strong points in their relationship? Is evil still lurking? Will Stuart's faith and prayers keep him from the devil's clutches?
Infused with drama, lies, and suspense with a Christian overlay, THE LYONS DEN will hold its reader from beginning to end. The subplot intertwines perfectly with the main focus of the book, and the outcome will leave your mouth shut wide open. However, I would have liked a little more development on the stalker's profile without giving away too much on the culprit's identity.

Fascinating Read, June 22, 2009
This review is from: The Lyon's Den (Shelton Heights Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
Kendra Norman-Bellamy introduces us to the third book in the Shelton Heights series. Shelton Heights has a reputation of weird occurrences and unexplainable events. In THE LYONS DEN, Stuart Lyons has now fallen victim to some bizarre events. He is being stalked and threatened by someone that calls themselves Dr. A. H. Satan. Stuart believes that this stalker is harmless and does not worry too much about him. Besides, Stuart is a single dad, police lieutenant and his mind is somewhat distracted by Candice Powell, a woman that he met on a Christian dating site. As their relationship begins to blossom, the stalker becomes more dangerous. While it started as just a few threatening letters, Dr. A. H. Satan has now reached Stuart's home and directly threatened his thirteen year-old son, Tyler.
Is Candice all that she portrays to be? Has the legend of Shelton Heights struck again?
Bellamy presents a wonderful story of suspense, love and friendship. The secondary characters and plots made for exciting escape from the drama of the main character. She re-introduced the characters from two previous installments in the Shelton Heights Series. The end is a total shocker. This book will have you interested from beginning to end. Bellamy has captured a compelling way to tell a mystery and infuse it with Christian values. I recommend this for those looking for a fascinating read.
