The Lyon's Den or the "Den of Lyons" is a very interesting read. This book represents the third series in the "infamous" Shelton Heights myth. 4.0 out of 5 stars "A Den of Lyons", April 13, 2009
This review is from: The Lyon's Den (Shelton Heights Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
The Lyon's Den or the "Den of Lyons" is a very interesting read. This book represents the third series in the "infamous" Shelton Heights myth. If you have been following along ("In Greene Pastures" - series one and "The Battle of Jericho" - series two), then you know all about the housing development of Shelton Heights, where it is believed that Mr. Heights' ghost taunts this community where strange and unexplainable things occur. In "The Lyon's Den" Stuart Lyons is a police officer who is receiving threatenting letters and being harrassed by a Dr. A.H. Satan. The question is who is doing this - the ghost, one of his past arrestees seeking revenge or could it be a close friend or colleague (hmmmm, thus creating a Den of Lyons) and why? However, the plot thickens when Stuart signs up with a "Christian" on-line dating service and meets Candice. Is she all that she portrays? There are a lot of pieces to this puzzle and putting them together will take the "wisdom" of God.

This story is very engaging. The reason for my "four star" rating is because of the ending. It was explosive and I did not see it coming. Partly because there was not a lot of information given prior to its revelation. I was shocked and felt a bit let down. HOWEVER, Kendra continues to do her thing - bringing you into her literary world. Once again, she demonstrated the power of prayer and what it means to seek Him in all things.

Enjoy!

This review is from: The Lyon's Den (Shelton Heights Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
In the Shelton Heights community, strange and unexplainable things are happening. These incidences are being blamed on the ghost of old man Shelton Heights. As the book begins, we're drawn into the constant threats made to police lieutenant, Stuart Lyons. The stalker is sending him threatening letters signed DR. AH SATAN. Believing this is a kid playing games, Stuart doesn't feel too threatened, until the stalker gets bolder and too close for comfort. Speculations are plentiful; is this the work of a kid, old man Heights's ghost, or someone who Stuart sent to prison?

Before his stable life is turned upside down, Stuart signs up on a Christian online dating website. He chats daily with Candice Powell developing a special interest in her. They agree to meet for the first time, and when they see each other, there is an immediate attraction. Although Candice wasn't completely honest in her online profile, Stuart felt comfortable giving her his most precious gift. But will honesty be one of Candice's strong points in their relationship? Is evil still lurking? Will Stuart's faith and prayers keep him from the devil's clutches?

Infused with drama, lies, and suspense with a Christian overlay, THE LYONS DEN will hold its reader from beginning to end. The subplot intertwines perfectly with the main focus of the book, and the outcome will leave your mouth shut wide open. However, I would have liked a little more development on the stalker's profile without giving away too much on the culprit's identity.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Read, June 22, 2009
By
This review is from: The Lyon's Den (Shelton Heights Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
Kendra Norman-Bellamy introduces us to the third book in the Shelton Heights series. Shelton Heights has a reputation of weird occurrences and unexplainable events. In THE LYONS DEN, Stuart Lyons has now fallen victim to some bizarre events. He is being stalked and threatened by someone that calls themselves Dr. A. H. Satan. Stuart believes that this stalker is harmless and does not worry too much about him. Besides, Stuart is a single dad, police lieutenant and his mind is somewhat distracted by Candice Powell, a woman that he met on a Christian dating site. As their relationship begins to blossom, the stalker becomes more dangerous. While it started as just a few threatening letters, Dr. A. H. Satan has now reached Stuart's home and directly threatened his thirteen year-old son, Tyler.
Is Candice all that she portrays to be? Has the legend of Shelton Heights struck again?

Bellamy presents a wonderful story of suspense, love and friendship. The secondary characters and plots made for exciting escape from the drama of the main character. She re-introduced the characters from two previous installments in the Shelton Heights Series. The end is a total shocker. This book will have you interested from beginning to end. Bellamy has captured a compelling way to tell a mystery and infuse it with Christian values. I recommend this for those looking for a fascinating read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Men Reading KNB!!!, January 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Lyon's Den (Shelton Heights Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
This book is the last in the Shelton Heights Series and I honestly wondered how Ms.Bellamy could come through with another great read. But, she did it again with the last installment. Stewart Lyons' life was literally turned upside down. Letters from A.H Satan and the constant threat of hurt and harm, impending doom lurking in the shadows was enough to make a man want to lose his mind. Tempers flare as people become suspect to the goings on in this saga and the bonds of old and new friendships are severely tested. What it comes down to is who do you go to when you are going through hell? KNB skillfully ties in the lives of all of the characters in the Shelton Heights series and expands the concepts of what it means to have rivals, frenemies, loved ones and love interests in the mix. I especially like the fluidity in this book. the ongoing growth and continued ties of the children and adults in this series. As challenges continue to plague this community, the messages of faith and endurance never waver. The author has a broad range of the use of human emotion in her writing. One minute you think you have the plot figured out and the next you are stumped and thinking "hmm?" From laughing out loud to crying celebratory tears and tears of sadness, this series is not lacking when it comes to the enjoyable ride of human emotion. Through it all, Ms.Bellamy never forgets to inspire the reader in the spiritual sense, and in doing so she causes one to evaluate motives of the heart mind and spirit. She never fails to bring a strong message of God's love and the power of redemption, and overcoming in her stories.in our Book Club we discussed noticing more men reading KNB, especially with Battle of Jericho,Lyon's den and Crossing jhordan's River. Men in our local Book Venues are purchasing her work. This is quite an amazing feat for an author who is categorically labeled a "Christian Fiction/Tomance writer". A great ending to a wonderful series! Brava!
I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good suspenseful drama. Regardless of the genre'...good writing is just good writing!

This was a fantastic novel. I read 'The Lyons Den' in six hours. The story opens with a great hook and does not let you go. I loved the interaction and camaraderie between the guys. It was great to catch up with old friends from the previous Shelton Heights books. Once the story ended, I wanted to spend more time with Stuart and Candice. I hope this isn't the end...

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended, June 3, 2009

This review is from: The Lyon's Den (Shelton Heights Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
When a book can pull the kind of emotion out of me that THE LYONS DEN did, then it's a good book! I was in love with Stuart, Hunter, and Jerome, I was jealous of Candice, Jade, and Ingrid, I was sick of that darn Kenyatta (can somebody shoot her, please?), I felt sorry for Cornell, I loved Mother Tides (she reminded me of my aunt), and I laughed every time I envisioned the crooked toupee on Chief Overstreet's head! LOL!!! And anytime an author writes a mystery that I can't figure out before they uncover it, I give them FIVE THUMBS UP! This was a wonderful story. I hope another installment in this series comes out and Rocky is in the leading role. I am anxious to see what happened with him. So Mrs. Norman-Bellamy if you're reading this note...please give me more ROCKY.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mystery Continues, June 3, 2009
This review is from: The Lyon's Den (Shelton Heights Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
I have followed this Shelton Heights series from Book #1 (In Greene Pastures) and each one of them keeps me turning pages and wanting more. I don't know how she does it, but Kendra has a way of putting together a story that leaves a reader breathless no matter what the subject matter is. In "The Lyons Den" I was feeling Stuart's pain. Ain't nothing like being followed and not knowing who's following you and why. This book totally fooled me. I had picked out one person as the stalker and it ended up being somebody totally different. But when the mystery was revealed, I was like, "Ooooooh...now it all makes sense." I love the way this author tells a story. I love this author!!! I read online where Kendra said this one might be the last in the series but I hope she does at least one more. Readers like me want to know how everything ties together and what the REAL story is behind the strange happenings in Shelton Heights.
