Book Description

LYON'S PRIDE

Piers de Montgomerie, known as "Lyon" for his fierceness in combat, accepts the challenge of the Scottish king, agreeing to quell a troublesome highland feud and to accept the disputed lands as payment But his battle skills are no match for the flashing eyes and barbed tongue of "Mad" Meghan Brodie--the spirited wench he now holds hostage, who fires his blood with her heart-stirring beauty.

LYON'S GIFT

Distrustful of men and feigning madness, in truth Meghan is cunning as a fox--and far too loyal to her clan to be swayed by her arrogant captor's honeyed words and virile charms. She will make the Lyon pay dearly for the "gift" he has so brazenly stolen--even as her own traitorous heart begs her to surrender gladly to the one great love that can heal an injured land.

More About the Author

Born in Rota, Spain to a Spanish mother and American father, at 5, Tanya didn't know a single word of English. Her first English words, courtesy of Grandma V were, "Many, many lights!" The airport was ablaze with them and hands plastered to the car window, nose to the glass, she was hungry to learn more. Language, she quickly discovered, more than planes or even actual bridges, was the thing that connected us all - no matter what walk of life we hailed from.

Fast forward to age 12: Lying anxiously in a post-op bed in a little hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico, sans tonsils, all she could think about was her dad's typewriter. When the doc advised her parents to reward her with anything she wanted, ice cream lagged a distant second to the one thing she coveted most - that beautiful machine with the little metal arms that, when fingers pressed down upon the pearlescent keys, would stamp bold black letters on crisp white paper. To Tanya, that image was beauty incarnate. And so she began writing at age 12 - anything she could get her hands on - even thank you notes, to her parents' delight.

Tanya grew up a military brat, and, although goodbyes were never easy, she says she's grateful for the disparity in cultures she's been privileged to experience. And she believes every person she's met, every spoken word, every tear and every bit of laughter have all contributed to the canvas that is her writing.

Tanya is a bestselling novelist and an award-winning journalist, who friends and family sometimes refer to as "Pollyanna." But the name-calling is usually done with a healthy dose of good will, so she's OK with it. Those who know her best, however, know that Pollyanna is just half her personality (she's a Gemini, after all)!

Her first romance novel "Angel of fire" was published in 1992 for Avon Books. A New York Times bestselling author, she is a five-time nominee for a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award and her novels have been translated into Spanish, German, Italian, French, Russian and Chinese.

Tanya Ann Crosby writes the story of two people who have insecurities and secret dreams hidden in their hearts. They are real people with real heart desires. Each finds the answer to their questions in the other and fall in love in the sweetest way. It's very passionate and very funny. Highly recommended. I've read it a couple of times.

Also recommended: The MacKinnon's Bride, On Bended Knee

3.0 out of 5 stars An average Scottish romance..., December 28, 2004
This review is from: Lyon's Gift (Mass Market Paperback)
if I were giving this book a grade it would be a C. The story and characters were enjoyable but seemed like your typical fare in many historicals.

One interesting part was that the hero fell hard for the heroine early on but it takes her till almost the end to realize she loves him. I personally did not like the way the author tries to write the Scottish Brogue out in the speaking sentances-I found it hard to decipher and literally headache enducing:)

While the heroine's fiery spirit and pluckiness was fun in the beginning, her increasing pranks and tricks to convince the hero she's "mad" grate on you as the book wears on and turn very immature-so much so that I found I almost disliked her towards the end.

About the only redeeming side in this book was the very sensual love scenes and the more sensible side romance between the heroine's brother and best friend . Though I found it weird that the hero, seeing the heroine in alot of ghoulish make up as she was trying to make him think she's disfigured, he can't help being not attracted to her-but then proceeds to have sex with her anyway!!!

I guess I'm ambivalant whether I liked this book-I had to force myself through the last 40 pages, by then I just wanted then all to grow up and go away:)

This is my mostestesssss favorite book EVER! The characters are both witty and funny at the same time. My problem is that I read it within hours. Was not able to put it down once I picked it up, problem was I was at work at the time. By the time it was time to go home, I had finished it! :( I wanted it to last FOREVER! It had me laughing with tears in my eyes. Most definitely a keeper! I WANT MORE, like this book! Thank you Ms. Tanya Anne Crosby for the gift of your book. :)
