I read the positives & the negatives and ordered it.

I have only used it a couple of times and it works as advertised.

Those that expect an industrial grade tool for five bucks have to revamp their thinking.

Good product. Solid metal construction. Nozzle inlet is slightlywider than the Weller de-soldering pump. This is good if you have a good amount of solder to remove but not as good as the Weller which is slightly better for smaller (tight) PCB holes. The Weller pump is slightly narrower. I have both and use both. I would buy this again.

Well I finally got one, don't take that wrong, it was shipped very fast, the reason I said finally is I had a good electric solder sucker from radio shack that had removable tips but couldn't replace the tips, they changed the model, it was ok but these solder suckers are better, they have more suction and the tips can be flipped over after one end gets to bad to use. Now I just need to see if the seller has the replacement tips for this model or where I can get them.
Reason why these are better than the heated solder sucker from radio shack is that you don't have to squeeze a bulb and try to hold it while heating up the solder, the squeezing of the bulb and holding it can cause the solder to cool down if you don't hold it real tight plus even when you let go of the bulb it does not have the instant suction these type solder suckers have. I was taught in a soldering and assembly course that these are the recommended solder removers of most electronic soldering and assembly companies. Actions speak louder than words, buy one and try it out, the cost is low enough!

Needed this tool to replace some relays on a circuit board from an oven. Is just about impossible to remove a multi-pin component without this tool. It worked great! Side note- the one I recieved didn't look like the picture. Mine came through black & yellow and the main tube is made out of aluminum- appears to be better quality than the one shown so I am happy.

I just got the sucker, this thing is a monster (suction wise) its the perfect size, it does have some kick when you push the button, not a deal killer for me, just gotta train the hand muscles to be ready, with some practice it'll be notta big deal at all... shipping was surprisingly fast the estimated time to arrive was by the 8th of January, I got it in three days thats why I'm giving them 5 starts, as far as the packaging the item itself could have used a bit more protection, I read some reviews and I decided to give this one a try, you spend $5.00 on junk food or cigarettes, so $5.00 for this is nothing to cry about, I would like to see some more tips as a add on option or maybe one extra tip as a gift, just saying.
Note to seller: maybe invest in a big roll of bubble wrap and charge an extra .50 cents to offset the cost I would be more than willing to pay the extra few cents and know that the item is tighly secured and it'll arrive in one piece, no dents or otherwise. Mine arrived in one piece just saying that's all....
In my own rating scale from "just ok" to "extremely satisfied" I will give the seller and the item an "Extremely Satisfied" its not commercial grade but for just basic hobby type applications its good enough.. as I always say, this is my own experience not everyone has the same good experience, good luck and hope this helps you in choosing.

It does it's job. I work with larger components and I can tell you this desoldering pump works great. It takes most of the molten solder of the contact that I wish to clean. I still have to use a wick to get it perfectly clean, but it gets most of the solder off. It is also very useful for fixing cold solder joints and large solder bridges. It is needed for instructors to fix the mistakes of their students. I recommend everybody who solders circuits to own some kind of desoldering pump. Do not buy a cheap desoldering pump because those things are terrible and break easily. I would recommend this one because it's sturdy. It comes apart to be cleaned. It is also very user friendly and can get up close to the joint to suck the solder of the board without being destroyed.

I recently began soldering printed circuit boards in my Quest to build my own guitar effects pedals and obviously made many rookie mistakes right off the bat. This pump works great and is built fairly solid. Unlike the picture, I received a black and yellow pump, which I feel looks way more bad ass. The inside of the pump chamber also has a small steel spike on it so when you push down to lock the pump, the spike helps to force old solder out. Although the chamber can be un screwed and emptied very quickly.

The only recommendation I have is that you also purchase solder wick (2-4$) to help fine cleaning and detailing of jobs.

Note, if you work with soldering for your profession or on a somewhat regular basis, you might need to replace the tips after a while, which are plastic, however I have not been able to find where to purchase them.
