MOTLEY DVD RULES! plus hidden stuff!,
By "glittrkidz" (Phila, Pa United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mötley Crüe - Greatest Video Hits (DVD)
Some people had a hard time finding this dvd, as it got confused with the box set in some stores, etc, but I just got it and it is awesome! Videos aren't in chronological order, but you can do a playlist thing and people are finding hidden features, so maybe there is a way of getting them to play in order. Who knows? Anyway, this dvd is incredible and for the people disappointed that Take Me To the Top and Public Enemy #1 weren't included..... cry no more! They are hidden (pretty damn well too) on the disc, plus a VIDEO for Shout At The Devil '97. Here's basically how to access these easter eggs - 1. Take Me To The Top 2. Public Enemy # 1 3.Shout 97 Hope this helps some of you out there!

The best part about waking up early...........,

Is to go to a mall and pick up a DVD. I purchased this DVD today at a mall close to where I live, and I was blown away by it. Now that I have seen this, I have more respect for the guys in Motley Crue. Here are my thoughts, comments, and opinions for every video on here:
"Kickstart My Heart"- Now this video is cool. You get to see clips of Motley Crue performing at a concert, going sky diving, and clips of race cars crashing- a nice touch for this video and this DVD. "Same Ol' Situation"- I don't like this video as much as I like the "Kickstart My Heart" video, but this video is pretty good. "Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)"- I have always liked songs like this. This is one of those songs that starts out as a really pretty ballad, and then it gets to the "I Don't Care About You Anymore" part of the song. The video is fun to watch, it flows along with the song. "Without You"- A great love song and a great video for a ballad. Enough said. "Wild Side"- The video and this song are both very cool and tough, and since this video is live, you get to see Tommy Lee do something VERY cool with his drum set during this video- wait till you see what that is. "Girls, Girls, Girls"- We've all heard this song and seen this video- you get to see Vince Neil, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, and Nikki Sixx riding their bicycles on the streets of L.A. and of course what else you would expect- there are a lot of cute girls in this video. Little Unknown Fact: During the one part of the video where Tommy Lee whisles for those girls and they turn around but do not exactly acknowledge him, the girl in the pink dress is a twenty year old Pamela Anderson, and that is how Tommy and Pamela met each other. "Dr. Feelgood"- This video starts off in an Egyptian Desert (you just hear the bass work at that part) and then during half of the video you will see the band perform, and the other half is like a movie based off of the song. At one part of this video you actually get to see/hear Mick Mars(I'm sorry for my previous error, I just caught it) talk. "Looks That Kill"- One of Motley Crue's first music videos, and a really cool one also. One thing that is so cool about it is that the girl in the video and the guys in Motley Crue all have the same kind of makeup on. "Live Wire"- There isn't as much to this video as there is on some of the other videos on here, but both the video and the song are fun to jam along to. "You're All I Need"- I'm usually not the biggest fan of shooting a music video for a ballad and then making the video into kind of an action/drama film, but I have made an exception for this video. This video is very good, and it is a little bit similiar to Velvet Revolver's music video for "Fall To Pieces". "Too Young To Fall In Love"- This video is a little bit lame, but it also happens to be funny and cool. Not one of my favorite Crue videos, but I'm still glad that it ended up on here. "Primal Scream"- One of my favorite videos on here. Again, the video works well for the song, you see a boy in the approximate age range of 17-21 walking away and looking like he is ready for independence. There are also a few wild animals in this video, and the guys in Motley Crue come on in this video as very cool and tough- especially Vince and Tommy. "Anarchy In The U.K."- What Motley Crue did with this video is the exact same thing that Slaughter did with their video for "Out For Love"- it plays the studio version of the song and shows the guys in Motley Crue onstage, backstage, and sometimes neither onstage or backstage. This song was originally a Sex Pistols tune, and Motley Crue did a good job covering it. "Afraid"- This video is a little but hyper, and it's not bad, but it's not outstanding either. Average, on a scale of 1 to 10 I rank it as a 5.99. "Smoke The Sky"- The first video on here with John Corabi, who joined Motley Crue after Vince Neil got fired from the band. With this video, Motely Crue managed to bring the lyrics of the song to life: I won't give away too much about it, but it shows the guys in Motley Crue performing in pitch black. Very well done. "Misunderstood"- This song is about an old man, an old woman, and a family (a father, a mother, and a son) going through hard times in their lives. I didn't like this track as much as I liked some of the other songs on Motley Crue's self-titled album with John Corabi, but this is a good song/video, and the end of it is a bit touching. And we thought that the guys in Motley Crue didn't have hearts. "Enslaved"- Not one of the best videos on the whole DVD, but this video is enjoyable to watch. "Smokin' In The Boys Room"- A bit of a rip off of Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher" video, but this video is hilarious and it is even better than the song itself. "Hooligan's Holiday"- One of the best Motley Crue songs with John Corabi, one of the best songs out of all of Motley Crue's songs, and one of the best videos on the whole DVD. "Hell On High Heels"- I couldn't wait until I would finally get to comment on this video, and now I finally can: This video (in my opinion) is the best video on the whole DVD, and it is the best video out of all of Motley Crue's videos. It is cartoon animated, you get to see cartoon figures of the guys in Motley Crue, and I shouldn't give away too much of this video, but since this song/video/and the album that this song first appeared on ("New Tattoo") all first saw the light of day in 2000, it had good timing: One part of this video goes along with one verse in this song, and they used that one part as a whole joke about the whole Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandle and used it to make fun of Al Gore (the uncensored version, which is also to be found on this DVD, pokes fun at George W. Bush). I wonder what Gore, Bush, Bill Clinton, and John Kerry would think of this video. "Home Sweet Home"- I prefer the '91 remix for this song/video over the original video for this song (both are to be found here, I am commenting on the original one)but if you liked the song "Home Sweet Home", then you will probably love this video. It was Tommy Lee who played piano on this song, and he did a great job at it. On this DVD there are also six bonus videos, a new intrview with Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee, a personal playlist, the discography of Motley Crue, and weblinks for the Crue as well. I like DVDS with music videos, and since I am such a huge Crue fan and this DVD has over twenty of their music videos, along with bonus features (which you usually don't find on a DVD with music videos) this DVD is definitely, by all means, a winner. Thank you for reading my review of this and don't forget to get a copy of this DVD.

This DVD is everything great that has been said of it!!,

I love Motley Crue and it was a real joy to find out that they finally put a DVD out with *all* of their videos on it(including the hidden 'easter egg' videos for Public Enemy #1,Take Me To The Top and Shout At The Devil '97..
Speaking of which,to pass on what I learned in here,*here's* how you access these hidden videos: 1.)Take Me To The Top: On the Main Page, place the cursor on 'set-up',press your DVD remote in the following sequence: Up,Up,Down,Up,Down,Left then Right and you'll be able to see this video. 2.)Public Enemy #1: On Page 2 of 'Choose a damn video' place your cursor on track 7 (which is Looks That Kill),then push the cursor Down,Right,Up,Left,Up,Right then down and you'll be able to see this video.. and for 3,)Shout At The Devil '97: Go to 'extra crap',then go to 'discography' for 'Generation Swine',place the cursor on 'next',then push Up,Up then Up and when the pentagram appears, push that and you can see this video.) I've always loved Motley Crue. I dug it when they took up with John Corabi for the self-titled 'Motley Crue' album and the 'Quaternary' E.P. back in 1994 and dug what they did with 'Generation Swine' in '97 when Vince returned. Motley is as great visually as they are on record and as a live band, and it's *Awesome* to have this DVD putting all the videos on one DVD. The interview with Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee is also really cool.. It was a trip to find out that Motley made videos for two of my all-time Corabi-era Crue songs with Misunderstood (a clean and an uncensored version) and for Smoke The Sky. The Crue Rocks. You won't be disappointed if you're either a casual fan of the Crue or even a diehard. Very well-recommended music DVD!! Thanks.

Don't Sleep on This!,

This is without a doubt one of the top music DVDs I own. It has exactly what you want, every Crue music video made (some are hidden) and on top of that it's got alternate versions along with a Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx interview. Great thing about the Crue's videos is they took chances and were creative which is why most of these videos you can watch over and over again unlike the standard basic format music video. Sometimes the results were cheesy or over the top, but hey, that's a major part of what the Crue is all about, am I right? Just look at "Smokin' In The Boys Room"...by far one of the cheesiest music videos ever made, but it sure is fun to watch and laugh. Bottom line is the result of these videos is that they're almost always interesting to watch. This is the only DVD where you're gonna get all these videos. As for the alternate videos, I will say this...the "X-Rated Version" of "Girls, Girls, Girls" is very misleading; it's far from X-Rated and just shows a few boobies here and there...don't expect much. The only reason though that I give this a four star rather than a five star rating is that the audio is very uneven at times and when it comes to the second audio option, for some reason it sounds more like demo versions of the songs; I don't know WHO the hell was in charge of remastering on that one. Overall though, this is very very worth it. Crue fans, you gotta pick it up.

If you don't buy this item from Amazon make sure that it's NOT the "Sanitized" version. I bought the "Sanitized" version thinking that the label on the front was some kind of a joke not realizing all of the videos and footage I was missing. Missing from the "Sanitized" version are:Videos-"You're All I Need""Primal Scream""Anarchy In The UK""Afraid""Misunderstood""Enslaved""Hooligan's Holiday""Hell On High Heels"Also missing is the interview with Tommy Lee & Nikki Sixx along with all of the Alternate Videos. I'm definitely going to have to buy an unedited copy. I feel that I really got screwed with my copy.

How to view the DVD's hidden features,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mötley Crüe - Greatest Video Hits (DVD)
On Mötley Crüe's latest DVD release, 'Greatest Video Hits,' the band has hidden a few real gems for their fans. Here is how to bring them out to shine. Go to the DVD's Main Menu and highlight the menu entry 'Set Up.' Now, press the following key sequence using the directional keys on your remote control - up, up down, up, own, left and right. You will now have the change to watch a video to 'Shout At The Devil `97' The second Easter Egg is found on the 'Damn Video' page. Go to the second page of the section and highlight the entry that says '1-7.' Now press the following key sequence - down, right, up, left, up, right and down. This will allow you to view the 'Public Enemy #1' video. The third hidden video is located in the 'Extra Crap' section of the disc. From there go to the 'Discography' and select the 'Operation Swine' album. Once there, highlight the menu entry that reads 'Next' and the hit the 'Up' key on your remote control three times. A pentagram appears and if you press 'Enter' now you will have the chance to witness the video 'Shout '97.

I was born in 1973. In 1987, I saw Girls Girls Girls on MTV. Being 14 years old, I thought to myself this is the coolest band in the world. Ever since they have always kicked ass. To be honest my favorites are the Corabi videos. I really really wish they could release a concert on DVD from the Corabi era. If you ever saw Crue live with Corabi on vocals you'll never ever forget his rendition of Home Sweet Home (sorry Neil, but it smoked (and not just the sky)). This is a great party DVD, the videos capture a moment in time that will never ever be seen or made again and not (surprisingly)look dated. Also, everyone is dead-on the 5.1 mix is killer!. Worth the money Amazon is selling for.

Buying this DVD was the best 10 bucks I've ever spent. All of the Crue's videos with some nice bonus features thrown in for good measure. The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is phenomenal! Outstanding separation of guitars, vocals, bass and drums giving new life to some classic material. Highly recommended!

When 'Shout at the Devil' was released way back when I became an instant fan. I was mowing the lawn and had a radio headset on tuned into 95ynf (Tampa Bay's home of Rock n Roll). Anyway as I mowed 'Looks that Kill' came on and I was hooked. I bought the album that week and later picked up 'Too Fast for Love'. The Crue helped me get through my teenage years and I still crank them regularly. So what can be said about this video package? It rocks. You get all of the Crue's phases. The Mad Max Shout at the Devil era, The flaming 'Theatre of Pain' era, the biker gang 'Girls' era, you know now that you think of it, everytime the Crue had a new album, they had a different era. They never even kept the same logo from one album to another. Whatever happened to the skull with the handcuffs going through the eyes? They dropped that after the 'Too fast for Love' era I guess. Bands best videos IMO are 'Looks that Kill' and of course the 'Girls, Girls, Girls' stripclub. For old and new fans alike theis DVD rocks. It will bring back great memories for some, and introduce a great band to the kids who have to put up with today's garbage.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mötley Crüe - Greatest Video Hits (DVD)
This dvd is so frigin awesome. This is such a good dvd. The videos sound great look great this is definitely the ultimate dvd for any fan of Motley Crue or Metal in general. The complete library of videos is just the beginning of this monster dvd. The Back Talk segment is so cool. Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee walk you through 20 years of kick ass videos. They reveal a bunch of behind the scenes stuff and tell you about their battle with MTV because of the content of their videos. And these interviews are uncut and uncensored! And then there is the bonus videos! The X-rated version of girls, girls, girls and also uncensored versions of Hell on high heels, Misunderstood, and Primal Scream. And don't forget the '91 remix of Home Sweet Home and the alternate version of Dr. Feelgood. And if that weren't enough it has a close to complete extensive Discography. It also includes weblinks. But one of my favorite parts is the personal playlist. Pick your favorite ten videos out of the 27 that's right 27 videos and they play out in the order you want. This is definitely one of the greatest dvds i've ever gotten. I got mine used for $11 but even if you pay $20 it's still worth the money! So go out and buy this incredible dvd now!
