I am a pro musician, and I was looking for a realistic sounding digital piano, and also one that looked like a real piano. I was very interested in the Yamaha Arius ydp models, however I liked the fact that you could route audio in to the m audio(the YDP you couldn't), and that the dcp300 was based off the Steinway D. The audio examples on the M audio website sounded great as well. I took the risk with hoping the keys were up to par or close to being a graded feel. I would compare the keys to that of a Roland digital piano. The stand itself is a solid build, the dark grain looks nice, almost black. The instruments are fantastic on this model. The strings are lush, and superb. Best I've heard out of these digital pianos. The piano sounds are excellent, and the warm pad, fantasia sounds are equally nostalgic sounding. The piano has numerous effects(chorus, short delay, flange, reverb), it's easy to split or layer sounds, and it's easy to record. The unit also comes with Sibelius First music notation software which I haven't used yet. One last note, the cool thing about this unit, I can pull up a Yamaha piano sound through a virtual instrument on my computer, and route it into my piano, and I have infinite sounds to play on the DCP300. Footpedal even controls those external sounds as well. This was ideal for me, being a midi geek, sound aficionado, and avid keyboard player. Although M audio has discontinued these models, I'm hoping they will return to newer versions eventually.

I recently purchased the M-Audio DCP-300. This is the third digital piano I have bought in the last 3 years. The first two were different brands and I dearly loved them both (Casio and Viscount). I am not, however, satisfied wtih the M-Audio. The keys have a clunking sound when depressed/struck which is very annoying. The tone is very strident and tin like even with adjustments. When the instrument arrived the bracket for holding the earphones was broken totally off. The shipping box it arrived in was in good condition, but the piano was not and had obviously been dropped BEFORE it was packaged for sending since it shows damage on one end. I would not recommend the M-Audio brand to anyone. My other two pianos were in the same price range and are 4 to 5 star pianos. I am sorry to write a bad report but it is my opinion you would be wasting your money on this product.

Although very satisfied with the purchase, there was just 1 issue. The product description on website should clarify if bench is included just like the other product description of the DCP-200 (earlier model). The included manual indicates that a bench is included with this model, and M-Audio's website described the same thing as well for the DCP-300; however, no bench was included. If a bench was suppose to be included, then it should be included. If not, then it should be very clear to the buyer. It just seems wrong and misleading. So potential buyers beware! Right now, we're using our computer chair. Assembly took approximately 1hr. 15min. done by 2 people (my daughter & I). Overall, I am very satisfied with the performance of the digital piano, and the shipping of it. Controls and features are simple that one is not too overwhelmed. Anyway, hoping to have a wonderful experience learning the piano. - AP
