Both this and the Presonus FireStudio are quite awesome audio interfaces. Never heard a pop and static is phenomenally low. It is built like a TANK and I'm sure it could withstand a beating. Preamps work great. The only downside, and I mean the only bad thing about this interface is that MIDI requires a breakout cable. Not a big deal but it's just something you could lose easily. I definitely recommend getting this. It really is great.

I already bought 2 of this and those are reall good. Could be better with just some little adjustments, for example to have the earphones outputs to be separated of the main outputs (earphone output 1 is linked to main outputs 1&2 and the earphone to 3&4, it would be geat that at least one of the earphone outputs could be independent); however this is one of the most powerful sound interfases on the market. I have zero complains and it does the work more than well. Zero latency even with my laptop that is loaded to the teath with stuff.

I have been working with M-Audio Tech support to see if the driver incompatibility issues they have with my Mac Pro is what the problem is, but if not then basically the thing died on me two days after opening the box. Worked well up until then! I will update this review in order to help confirm tech support quality on this product as well as warranty return, and if the unit works well once they send me a new one, I'll forget the whole one-star thing. Until then, I just wanted to issue some caution---I've been reading about a lot of incompatibility issues with the Ultra 8R that might have sent me on a different course in purchasing.

Well, I bought this on 4/6/11, and it took a month and a half for tech support to give me the return packaging, fix the problem and send it back, I can safely say that it works perfectly now. One star for the way it was received, so only four stars now...took forever! Very helpful though on the M-Audio/Avid Forum. I guess everyone gets burned a little occasionally, don't let me dissuade you from buying this one, just accept my review as a word of caution!

Purchased used through Amazon. The unit works exactly as it should with my imac computer using Proppelerheads Reason with Record. For the first time I am very satisfied with what I am recording (usually vocals and guitars).

The unit is Core Audio compliant (necessary when using Mac OSX 10.6.4) and delivers very low noise recordings.

Vendí mi antigua tarjeta M-AUDIO Omnistudio, la cual funcionó perfecto pero era USB 1.1 lo cual creaba problemas de latencia en el sonido. La Fast Track Ultra 8R la he utilizado en los últimos 2 meses y se ha comportado sin ningún problema, fácil instalación, software amigable. Trabajo con LIVE Y PRO-TOOLS y funciona perfecto. La recomiendo.

Es una tarjeta de audio excelente, cambié de hardware (PC con una Delta 1010 LT) y necesitaba una tarjeta que funcionara perfectamente con Mac y Protools y en la Fast track ultra 8r encontré la solución.

Lo fácil de utilizarla además de la versatilidad y la calidad de audio que puedes lograr, hacen que esté 100% satisfecho de la compra. A decir verdad es un producto de muy alta calidad. Tiene integrado 48 + Phantom Power lo cual hace que prácticamente no necesites otro mixer, por lo que puedes conectar directamente tus mics de condensador a la interfase.

Si quieren lograr sonido profesional es una muy buena opción, y para los usuarios de PC funciona perfectamente con Windows 7 y SONAR.

In the begining I though the problem was my laptop, then I tried different configurations, operating systems, DAWs, hardware, etc...it still having pops and clicks. Then I asked at the official m-audio forum. They give me lots of advices....nothing worked for my interface.

Yersterday I turned it on....and it start to make a loud noise in all channels...channel two stop to work...etc.

It seems it has some kind of electrical problem...hope the seller give my money back...
