Poor battery life, stuck notes, May 27, 2009

At first, this controller worked great. After a couple hours of use however, the batteries were dead. I replaced the batteries (SIX AA!!) and after using it a while I noticed some notes get stuck (some notes randomly sustain indefinitely, most likely the note-off midi message never reaches the computer.) I contacted the m-audio tech support and their solution was to power the controller with the supplied ac adaptor (making it no longer wireless.) Soon after the batteries ran out again, after only another couple hours of use, and I had the bright idea of putting in rechargable batteries. DON'T TRY THIS. The ones I tried got stuck and now one is jammed in forever. This isn't a very reliable keyboard, whether it be limitations in wireless technology or not. Expect to pay a lot for batteries. I would recommend a Keyrig 25 as a wired alternative.
