5.0 out of 5 stars The Sound of Silence!
After suffering through a variety of products I discovered the M-Audio 192; (I was partial to the brand because of happy experience with their Micro field recorder). 3.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't get it to work with Sandy Bridge.
I ran into an issue with this board which appears to be a compatibility problem with PCI on Sandy Bridge (google "Sandy Bridge audio" for info). I got massive clicking and popping on playback. I changed all my power settings to the recommended ones and cranked my buffer settings up until the latency was unbearable, but I was still guaranteed at least a couple of pops...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Sound of Silence!, October 5, 2006

After suffering through a variety of products I discovered the M-Audio 192; (I was partial to the brand because of happy experience with their Micro field recorder). After a reasonably painless installation on a PC with Windows XP, I ran the "Wave Profiler" in SONAR Producer to profile the new card. The result: What was formerly an annoying half-second MIDI latency dropped down to instant response!! Better yet, immediately after installation I turned all volume levels to MAX on my outboard mixer: Dead Silence! I wondered if the card was actually installed. Then turning the volumes down I played some music: Astounding presence and clarity. How much is absolute silence worth? A LOT! This card is worth triple the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm happy with this card, November 4, 2006

I did a lot of research for a sound card. More research I did, harder it was to make a choice. I am not a gamer, and gamers, this card is not for you. However, if you plan on recording on your computer, or just digitize old tapes and records, this is the card for you. I have had no problems with this card and the sound is stunning for a pro card in this price range. Before I hooked up my sound monitors, I hooked up my old Boston Acoustic 6 watt per channel speakers, the sound was incredible, and thats putting it mildly. So, if your a gamer, go with the MadDog Entertainer 7.1 , dont let the low price scare you. If your a "audiophile" with a budget, M-Audio is the way to go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Price, Great Sound, May 13, 2009
This review is from: M-Audio US41750 Audiophile 192 Hi-def Aud Card (Electronics)
After reviewing a dozen sound cards, I bought this one for my broadcast/audio production studio. It works fine, no crashes, no lag time, and it's used on-the-air with no-hums, no hassle. The trick (I'm using Windows XP) is to first go to the M-Audio web site. Download the latest drivers and install it on your computer before installing the card. Throw away the disc as it contains some outdated drivers that were causing some trouble. I had some concern with compatibility with my CPU processor and recording software. I e-mailed M-Audio before I purchased it, and they were quick (one business day) to respond. It's been my workhorse for 6 months now and a solid product at that.

I purchased one of the these cards for my mobile DJ business that now runs completely from computers. I have several audio cards/interfaces including a Digidesign MBox which I use regularly use. The Audiophile 192 blows them all away. It is instantly noticeable and gave me a bit of a wow factor since I am a huge Pro Tools fan. The works with my DJ software very well on OSX 10.4 and the drivers are solid with no crashes or audio problems whatsoever. In addition to my DJ business I am a professional audio engineer and I am exposed to many types of a professional gear everyday. This is on par with the best I have ever experienced!

5.0 out of 5 stars 192 Audiophile EXCELLENT, January 9, 2007

We're using this soundcard in our pub for nightly entertainment. I intend on buying a second one soon. The sound quality is great, no one can tell if it's coming from the PC, CD or our jukebox because they all sound great!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, crisp, 2 channel sound card, confusing drivers, June 9, 2009

The Audiophile 192 has everything I wanted in a sound card - MIDI support for my keyboard(s) and awesome, crisp 2 channel stereo sound reproduction. I'm hearing voices clearer and with more fidelity than before, and the use of 1/4" jacks allows easy hookup to my M-Audio BX5a monitors.

What I found disappointing is its bundled software which I don't find very useful, and the confusing setup options in the driver. It's also a minor niggle that they don't provide the full manual for the card in the box - they only give you a quick reference card. You can download the full manual online as a pdf.

Many help files online refer to a mixer / routing table tab in the driver program that doesn't exist in the latest driver (as of June 2009). Therefore getting everything to work in Windows XP was a little bit of a trial-and-error process for me. There was a point where I was so confused with drivers (and window's own sound device control panel) I considered returning the product, but I'm very grateful I didn't and took the time to learn it in greater detail.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great card, no more hissing!, December 18, 2010

This review is from: M-Audio US41750 Audiophile 192 Hi-def Aud Card (Electronics)
I've been getting frustrated with my screencast videos b/c I have a high quality mixing board and production quality headset, but I get hissing in my videos during the 'silence'. I've tried Line In, Mic In, USB connector, nothing got rid of the background hissing. On a whim I hooked everything up to my MacBook Pro and the sound was so much better. But all my video software is for Windows 7 64bit. Maybe it's just a problem with Windows computers??? So I got this card and hoped for an improvement.

My audio sounds fantastic now! There is actually silence when there is supposed to be silence. So sweet. I'll tell you one thing, the audio cards that ship with Windows computers are garbage. If you want clean sound, you need a specialized audio card. And this one is great.

I haven't used any of the software yet b/c I hate installing non-necessary software on my computer. So I can't review the software. But the card is well worth money.

Oh yeah - re the audio drivers, don't install off the CD. Just go to their site and make sure to download the latest version. And they have it listed under "Delta Series". I have no idea why b/c none of the packaging mentions "Delta" ANYWHERE. I didn't know what to download till I figured that out.

5.0 out of 5 stars best card I've ever used..., August 30, 2010

I use this card for everything. DVD's and Blu-Ray's, Lossless and mp3 music files, Live instruments connected through mixing board (MIDI and TRS) this card does it all and does it without ANY hum, hiss or level drop. Make sure you UPDATE DRIVERS at M-Audio's website and don't use the disc. Windows 7 found them for me anyways but YMMV. Brilliant card...

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight forward, rock solid, and just what I needed..., August 24, 2009
This review is from: M-Audio US41750 Audiophile 192 Hi-def Aud Card (Electronics)
I got a new computer and hoped the soundcard that came with the computer would be good enough to continue my audio and music projects without any problems. Sadly, it wasn't the case and I ordered the Audiophile 192. The Audiophile 192 has been a good soundcard so far and installed and integrated nicely into my new computer, which is running Vista, although I did go to M-Audio's website to download the newest drivers rather than what was on the included CD and would definitely recommend doing this with any new hardware you get.

I'm not even close to utilizing the full features of this audio card. However, for my purposes it's a major step up from the Creative card I'd been using. Primarily I'm listening to digital music located on my computer, ripping my CD collection, and occasionally digitizing vinyl. The results have been great.
